Common painkillers such as Ibuprofen can double the chances of suffering a heart attack, it has been claimed.

Research suggests high doses of anti-inflammatory drugs increase the risk.

Vioxx, which is part of a group of anti-inflammatories known as COX-2 inhibitors, was banned in 2004 after a link between the drug and heart attacks was shown.

And now this latest study shows a link between other anti-inflammatories and heart disease.

Taking the risk benefit ratio into consideration, and the patients whom suffer from chronic conditions such as: arthritis & SLE ...etc, and knowing the fact that the risk for the heart attack is small, I believe that NSAID's are still the mainstream in managing the chronic conditions when it comes to pain relief & fever

I believe that a former athlete of the WWE died because of a heart attack & was known to be addict to pain killers, his name was Davey Boy Smith or better known as The British Bulldog

Paracetamol (panadol, amol, adol...etc) is not a part of NSAID's (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), so Paracetamol per se is not linked to heart attacks

However, the chronic abuse & overdose lead to kidney & liver damage


I thought Panadol effects the memory after long term use

am not really sure about the medical side to panadol (but am sure Hitmans clarification is good enough) bas i totally agree that ppl here in oman take in panadol like its candy or something. ya3ni tooo much....my finger hurts-->panadol, my nose hurts-->panadol....blah blah hurts.. the solution is always panadol. people if its not that bad then dont take anything at all! there is no need for it...whn things get worse wht u gona do...?
