Has Omanisation scared the expats away? Is this country going to be only Omanis one day? Is that wise?
Don't all get angry now. The country is for the Omanis, but expats do bring a source of income to the country too.
Every time an expat is here, the name of Oman is spread in the world and hence increasing tourism....interest to the country, income...money, better salaries, lower costs like rent, pertol...shopping, and that way, when others see it increasing with tourist destinations, others will come and so on...why is Dubai so successful and we are 4 hours away and not? Please don't say because of Russians!!!
If anyone thinks that tourism is booming in Oman then you need to get a life. There is no tourism, and one day, we might live to regret it...
comments please

the govt. is so screwed up , one minute they say they want to open the country to tourists , yet they still have visa restrictions. Last weakend a friend of mine and his family were visiting from Al Ain, they came by road and they required visas , well they were made to wait 1 hr. not because there were lots of people but because the guy behind the counter in civil clothes was too busy chatting with other guys , now how can you encourage this man to visit here again??//?

Many people are dealyed at the Omani borders..I appreciate what you say, unfortunately, if the Omanis are saying that there is a problem, then what are the xpats saying?
HOWEVER: Who are we to judge, someone else is taking these decisions and it is frustrating everyone.

Omanization? Nice subject. 2cool4u this is a vast subject and it depends how u r looking at it. If u r thinking about the economy then u r right, the expats do bring tourism with them which in a way is good for the country. But before we think of tourism I think we should also look at the future of our Omani brothers and sisters. They also need to work, they also deserve a chance to make a life in Oman. I'm not saying things are going correctly, there is still a lot of work to be done to acheive omanization. For example the salary's. They are pathetic. 120 rials! what is a guy supposed to do with that kind of money! http://www.omania.net/evip/ubb/confused.gif Further education for school graduates. There are still not enough oppurtunities for the school leavers which is causing a lot of problems in the country, because they can't get jobs. this leads to more serious problems which we are all aware of. So Omanization should take place but in a better way that things are going now.
Don't worry. the expats are still going to be around for some more time to come.
This is my opinion, and everybody is welcome to share thiers.
