Hello friends ...
First of all I dont know wether this topic had been discussed before or not , if yes ,that won't bother me whether locking or deleting it ... :)
ontopic
As you know , many Video Games nowadys have bad effects on young people , due to what these Video games display ..and that might cause problems ( making young people desensitized to violence means that they gradually become insensitive to violent scenes and violent in general .
The dominant argument in this respect is that childern perceive screen violence as play and somehow become immune to the horror of violence which make them as a result less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others , or even aggressive towards others
The questions here are :

Do you agree with the idea that children who play violent video games become immune to violence ?

Do you usually play such games when your little brother is around you watching ?

In your opinion to what extent could this games effect children ?

I was watching TV the other day and there was this programme on about games and violence in 'em, one boy was caught for murder :| and it was said the reason was the game and he became violent because of it, it really affected him, psychologically. it was GTA San Andreas, not sure as it was the game he constantly played but it was shown and such games that contain violence.
I like this game :-X

In your opinion to what extent could this games effect children?
*Some would start acting like how it's in the game.

GTA is one of the violent and dangerous game which I think should be prohibited .. I always see my little nephew playing it and sometimes he wants practicing that on his siblings ... and my little cousin always talk about Police and crimes and tell me
who is stronger you or that man ? can you beat him ? let me see your arm's muscle and so on
so I think someday he will become immune to violence ..
what do you think ?

Yeah, some would always get into fights or bully others and tell them u r weak and coward, become violent. I think it should be prohibited for kids, young children.

precisely... Videogames themselves aren't a problem.. politicians have always sought after unrealistic reasons to blame other things on other than themselves (or the parents for that matter).

first its rock, then it's cartoons, videogames, movies etc...

you want violence? Me and my brother use to playfight after watching each episode of grendizer even though such an anime is harmless.

If kids are demented, retarded, crazy in anyway then they shouldn't be allowed to play videogames..

Also videogames are just a way for a person to release their anger peacefully which is acceptable..

videogamers, it appears jack thompson has laid seige in this forum.. protect it with yur life! :p

I believe the video games are rated! So you can know what game you are going for, & if its suitable or not.

I think the video games simply are like the movies, internet, TV in general! You want to do something, so then have a supervision on the kids!

thats true but the thing is, everyday they're rating some of the best shooters as M.. perfect dark was rated M (17 +) though I played it at age 14 or 15.. in other words there are some teenagers while they lack the age, are mature enough to play games... I also believe that this generation of kids is becoming more and more weaker or rather harmless.. and the sad thing is, governments are overly pampering them very much.. even with the existence of sexual stuff in games, do you really want to convince me that people get off at those? 0_o because that's the basic reasoning that politicians use..

Violent video games do affect children to a great extent. I have a 5 year old brother and many other young cousins, most of them end up waking up at night crying for help because that giant man is going to come and kill them!! And many other stories I hear from them when they cry at night because they cannot sleep.

there's a major difference in what these 5 year olds are playing.. back then i use to play the NES with favorite games like mario and such... nowadays games are becoming more and more complicated and with objectives though obviously games are directed to the demographic of 10-30 years of age.. Also since games are rated.. there's no way you'd give a 13 or M game to a 5 year old.. Aside from that, 5 year old are quite imaginative.. they could be getting their fears from other sources.. i mean I use to think jack nicholson dressed as the joker was always in my mom's room when it was dark :p

Some kids do get affected by such games that have violence in 'em, once noticed in behaviour then parents should give extra care and attention to change that and so, that it wouldn't grow bigger. It's true as MK said some are mature enough to play the games which are rated +their age but what parents should do to prevent the chance of their child getting affected with any games which contain violence to supervise them while playing and to notice of any change in their behaviour to being violent and in their mind. Kids get affected by cartoons, games like once there was this boy who wanted to jump out of the window to fly like Superman!

like once there was this boy who wanted to jump out of the window to fly like Superman!

Sadly in Egypt, my mom told me about something that use to happen back in her days.. unfortunately kids didn't follow superman rather they followed mighty mouse... some began jumping off cliffs and balconies and windows too..

"farafeero ana gaeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!" :D
