How do you listen to music?

When you listen to a track; what do you focus on? The lyrics? The beats? What comes first?

As for me, I must know the lyrics first, even if the beats are the BOMB.. it wont count if the lyrics are not good.

I understand instrumentals more than songs seriosuly! Though with that I can explain it the way I want rather than getting straight words.

Anyhow, as i said be4 i would go for what comes 1st. In Other words if the Rapper/singer started singing/Rapping at the 1st sec. of the song then ama go with the Lyrics.

And if the Melody/Rhythem or the beats started first then im fly with 'em. So actully any of them.

Plus sometimes ma mood gets in the way, I mean sometimes i just love listenin tot he beats and bass more then anything.

i focus on the music,i focus on instruments like nighty i just love guitar solos so i focus on that then the lyrics (what got to me into pink floyd was the lyrics then i realised that their music is great as well as their genius lyrics)

If it's dance music then the lyrics don't really matter , but if its a ballad or a mid-temp song then the lyrics comes first.

Usually the first thing I'll notice is the tune. :) Then, I'd focus on the words. Whether I like a song or not can depend on the mood I'm in when I first hear it. If I'm feeling hyper and I hear a slow song I probably won't like it, and vice versa

I focus on lyrics, then music, then rythms.
The more realistic the lyrics the more I like the song no matter how it sounds! it must be rock at least. Such as the following Lyrics which is an example of Epic Metal Lyrics by Iced Earth: The Prophecy.

well i dont really care that much about lyrics.. all i care about most is the beats and yeah the voice of the singer too :)... so if the beats are bad then i wouldnt bother myslef and listen to the lyrics :D

... both beats and lyrics... it usually starts with the beats but whatever I hear I focus on (that's only the first time)... when I already know what it's all about I ignore the lyrics and focus on the beats :p... unless the lyrics were great, then they stick to my mind...
