Just a deliberation from the supreme court for a specific case.
Hopefully it will be turned into law but valid only after at least a first release.
And as always these are the rumors, nothing official.

I did not hear about it. However, rumors are that by next year expatriates might no longer need a release letter from their sponsor to get another job within the capital. If it is true, it will be really nice.

Not only that Xpress the Union in Oman is growing fast and the expatriates will be protected just like a local ... You may not fire any expat without a good reason .

yes XP, thats what I would like to know... Since currently the law says that an expat needs to leave the country for two year if they like to join another company (without a release letter)

another way around this is for the expat to claim that their passpost is missing and come to the country with a new one...

this talk has been going around since many expat have left the country to go and work in the UAE...

still dont know if its true or not...

Is not that they like.
Some awful sponsors for some reasons threaten them with this.
Is a shame.
