View Full Version : Moderate Muslim clerics in the U.S. tend to their faithful--and help the FBI fight te
From his mosque in Virginia, Magid, like many of the some 600 full-time imams across the country, is fighting his own war against radicals trying to hijack his religion. For Magid that has meant not only condemning terrorism but also working closely with the FBI in battling it. He regularly opens doors for agents trying to cultivate contacts in his Muslim community, and he alerts the bureau when suspicious persons approach his congregation. That puts him in a precarious position: How does he maintain credibility as a spiritual adviser while, in effect, he is informing on fellow Muslims? To understand that balancing act, TIME spent two weeks following Magid as he raced from prayer to prayer, meeting to meeting, in the strange new world of American Muslim ministry.

Too complicated for my mind to handle the calculation. What is the balance between trying to save islam & and to colaborate with non-muslims against muslims.

These non-Muslims are against those who would normally be called terrorists. Some Muslims think these aren't real Muslims either ... so are they Muslims, these non-Muslims are against?

Seems he is working with the terrorists themselves.

terrorist extremists are void of being called muslims and thus technically the imams are just witnesses to a non muslim vs non muslim war... I wouldn't understand why they would call them as "fellow muslims" if they are transgressing.. However this is only the case if the FBI are fighting off extremist muslims that kill off other muslims and others by calling them infidels.. though these are quite rare in the US (if not non existant) as they exist in corrupted nations aside the US.. I find it rather ridiculous that the imam is informing the FBI based on suspicious people who enter the mosque.. How would they know if they're suspicious? Well unless the extremists would be inviting him to spew out a lot of anti islamic propaganda... I'm done talking to myself now..

True that this is ONLY internet but is about time to squeeze the brain (not the member :D ) before opening mouth to refresh the throat.
There are people who work hard on our security: shooting silly statements without backing up is quite silly.

Slowly... very slowly... How many times did you mention muslims & non-muslims in these 2 sentences. :D
This is complicated as I said before. Muslims are calling other muslims non-muslims. These muslims who are said to be non-muslims by the other muslims return the favour & call the first muslims non-muslims. Now who are the muslims & who are the non-muslims or is it that all of them are muslims, but they are calling each other non-muslims to pass their agenda.
I beat you :p
Are you a terrorist? No, I am a student. :)
I won't get deep into this. I prefer stopping here because as I said twice now, this is complicated.

am sorry to argue with you but these are basic principles of life we have to make clear.
Why you always complicate things so much?
Is very simple:
assume we live in America
we both technically Muslims
one day I see you smuggling drugs or dealing with bad people or killing somebody, let's say I see you doing bad things to cut it short
I go to the local authorities and tell them
up to them to see what is wrong
you live in a non Muslim country
is your choice(or maybe not but these are the circumstances)
you will pay your crimes according to the law
now I ask you:
Anything wrong with what I did til now?

Simple answer.
You did the right thing. If you didn't inform the authorities then you should be punished.

Then explain this to my simple mind.
I don't want to. :)

I should adopt this technique.
Say something (anything!) and then say "Its complicated ... verrrry complicated and I don't want to explain! :)"

In principle I would agree with you Shinoda, but to explain my reasons would be too complicated
Why is it that complicated !! I can see that Amo said it as simple as it is which I gree with.
Ok, lets take it from other view .....
(let it be in a muslim country ! )
What if you knew /or see you friend, any guy ( who is a muslim by the way ) doing something wrong / bad like killing ,stealing ...
What will you do ??!! ... Would you say no he/she is a muslim and its not right to tell authority about them !
And the same for others ( in a non muslim country ! )
Its not about religion either if you are muslim or non muslim .... its about doing right and wrong .... whats allow and whats forbidden !
