So some times you might face a question that its answer lays in the same place, but what you need to do is to read through your threads ;)

So please, participate in here and let us make this sabla alive the same as others.:)

Plus at least you would be gaining more knowledge about your own country :flag:

sallam,

the answer is:

Located in Jibrin town in Wilayat Bahla; Ad-Dakhliyah region, Jibrin Fort resembles a remarkable blend of defensive architecture and sophisticated artistry

it was originally a palace built in 1671 and converted to a fort later. It is said to be the most beautiful fort in Oman, because of its decoration

Bilarab bin Sultan((1091 -1104 A.H) (1680 -1692 A.D.)), son of Nizwa's builder and the third imam of the Ya'ariba, erected the splendid palace of Jabrin in the middle of an expansive inland plain

sallam thug:)

finally you got it right;)

but part of it needs to be corrected...

She is indeed Princess Salima, one of the greates grandmothers of H.M. Qaboos.

She was one of the Princess who was born in Zanzibar and who escaped with an Italian Solder, who she then got married to him...

She had 3 kids from him 2 boys and a girl, and she changed her name from Salima to Emily Ruth, where she lived her life writting her life story in Italian, and she died there.

Where her book got to be transleted first to French, then english and then to Arabic...

:)

Thug, you need yo shoot us with your question now....

People, Princess Selma got married to a German guy, not English or Italian!

More Info:

- Her father was Sayyid Said, and her mother was a caucasian concubine.
- She was born in Zanzibar, which served as the joint (and preferred) capital with Muscat of all territories under Oman’s control, under Sayyid Said. link (http://www.destinationoman.com/dest2004/art1.htm)

Hey Solafa, we all make mistakes! :p I make sillier ones myself!

Anyway this is the book Amazon= Memoirs of an Arabian Princess from Zanzibar (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1558760113/002-0333154-1760057?v=glance&n=283155&st=%2A&v=glance).

Midwest Book Review

Set against a backdrop of political intrigue in the great age of European colonialism, Memoirs Of An Arabian Princess From Zanzibar is an engrossing memoir offering a vivid portrait of 19th century Arab and African life. Life not only in the palace, but in the city and plantations as well. Emily Ruete (born in 1840 as Salme, Princess of Zanzibar and Oman, fled to Germany in 1856, changed her name, married her Germany lover, bore three children, and then widowed) provides a comparison between a woman's life in Moslem society and the conditions within the 19th century European bourgeoisie.

More Reviews

This book is written by Emily Ruete (formerly, Syiida Salma) who was the daughter of the most influential rulers of Oman and Zanzibar of all times. It was originally written in German and then translated into English and Arabic.
This book is excellent for the kind of readers who are fascinated by history and, Arab and Islam culture. Although the title suggests the author's autobiography, the book goes further to give a clear image on the political aspects and social life of the island of Zanzibar.

Who was the last Sultan of Zanzibar and til when he ruled?

Solafa
05-12-05, 10:22 PM
sallam,

The answer to amo's question is:

Jamshid bin Abdullah Al-Said (born September 16, 1929 in Zanzibar) was the last Sultan of Zanzibar. He ruled Zanzibar from July 1, 1963 to January 12, 1964. On December 19, 1963, Zanzibar received its independence from the United Kingdom as a constitutional monarchy under Jamshid. This state of affairs was short-lived, and in January 1964, he was overthrown. He went to exile to Great Britain.

Lool, i had to search for the answer, as i was not sure between Jamsheed and Barghash....
