Locally its called (Habta) ...and its were people gather and sell goods and live stock for Eid Al Fitr and Eid al Adh_ha later.

The gathering, the calls for sell, the bargings, the goods that you might not find any were else at any time else making it a Unique event.

Different Wilayat in Oman have different timings and days to initiate such an event.

Some start it pretty early I must say!!!

I know about 3ayood, but not habta.

i know whats "Habtaaaaa" its were people go before eid time to buy some bargin stuff... and they usually sell lamps and sheeps for eid.. old omani style thing.. am not surprised no one have heared of it.. :)

yeah,, you're right, it used to be only for selling lamps and sheeps, but now its kinda for selling everything, mostly cloths and toys. but negative aspect about the locations of those habtas which is its in an open area where everything is a mess. u walk and ur feet is full of sand lol, plus some fool guyz who go there nowadayz just to check out gurls unfortunatily "even in ramadan" which makes females uncomfortable to go to these habtas anymore! another negative aspect is they're held from the early morning till late afternoon and i dont have to talk abt the heat of oman!!!! lool..
what i know, is they're held in different times in different cities, the two most famouse ones are at suroor( sama2il ) and Seeb, the suroor one i guess its held on the 25th or 26th of ramadan, while the Seeb one is held on the 27th of ramadan or three days before any Eid... thats what i briefly know about habta's and sorry if there might be any mistakes. thanks

I've never been to habta because it always falls on the 27th of ramdhan in my village and we are ususally in muscat then.. but I have an idea of how it looks like ..
