MUSCAT — A slight earthquake was felt in Al Mudhaibi wilayat last night, causing some concern among the people of the area. The tremor, measuring 2.5 on the Richter scale, lasted a few seconds, and caused no damage.

The affected areas were Al Rodha, Samad Al Shaan, Al Shariya and Al Akhdar.
“Yes, there was a slight earthquake in Al Mudhaibi wilayat,” said Dr Ali bin Ibrahim Al Azky of Sultan Qaboos University when contacted last night. “It lasted just three to five seconds and measured 2.5 on the Richter scale,” he added.

Have anyone felt it or heared the news about the Eathquake?

May Allah have mercy on us all inshallah.

Its truly frightning and it only serves to show the fact that human beings are nothing. Anytime anyone can go. Things are happening all around the world, and it's probably serving a big big sign.

I hope nothing serious in oman for the forseeable future inshallah.

I didn't feel the earthquake as I'm not in Oman, nor did I hear of it.

However I don't think that it could've been the epicentre of the tremor. I suppose its more likely that the affected areas were hit by what's known as an aftershock, which is totally expected of such bigger one's like the one that hit north-east of Oman.

I actually read an article on this and I'd like to clarify a doubt I had. These tremors were not caused as a result of the ones that had hit India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. They were independant.

And I just realised after writing all this, that it was also mentioned in the link PB has provided

Uhhh thats weird! coz everyone thought that it was related to the quakes in Pakistan and India! Thanks for the info Prince.. in the link provided they weren't sure if it was related or not.. coz it was too soon to know that... dont you guys think that the government should've known about the quake before it happend? so they could caveat the people?
