PB, it is a sequel to a anime series called Mai Hime.

Blossom, I downloaded the episode, I might watch it today or tomorrow.

OK people, I watched the first episode. First of all, though we think of this as Mai HiME 2, but even though half the characters are from it, but it doesn't seem that it will take the same path or the same place. Visually, it is very similar to Mai HiME, identical style of characters, half of them are the same ones from the first episode (Natsuki, Shizuru, Mashiro, Akino, and so many more), while the other half of the characters is almost a twist from an older characters, Nina, and her Father (who looks like Tate blending into his Sword Fighting Captain).

The settings of the anime are quite weird, Mai HiME was fully modern, but this one seems to be like a hybrid, you see historical stuff, and then post modern stuff, I could be illusioned first because the very start of the series is like a flash back, so it could be all modern in terms of settings.

It is a bit too early to stay much about the story, but it is not going to be the same thing as Mai HiME, no brother sister thing in mysterious high school, everything in Mai Otome is official, people know that those girls have super skills and that's why they are in whatever place they stay in. I think that Mai Otome is going to be a little bit more superstitious than Mai Hime, way more flying in the sky and super duper skills, the fighting scenes are just as hot as those of Mai Hime.

There was no homosexual hints in the first episode, but I guess the trailer of the second one looked suspecious.

I think that I would've prefered if those people made a whole new series without basing it on Mai HiME, it would've been much better in my opinion, I didn't like the fact that I knew these people, because they were REALLY WHO they are supposed to be, yet they look like those people we know, it is the first episode, so I don't really know the exact connection between Mai HiME and Mai Otome if there is any at all.

I am sure that Mai Otome is going to have an epic storyline and memorable characters, it will have thrilling fight scenes and beautiful soundtrack as well. It is worth a watch for anybody interested in this sort of anime genre.

But true as you said, why didn't they make a whole new series instead of having this!!! seeing the same ppl but different story is a bit .. well not all that. And Mai has a different name or?

Mai was not featured in the first episode.

I really find it irritating to see the same old characters, in the same NAMES ,but in a different storyline a whole different universe. :S

i am not going to watch it, read some reviews and looked at screen shots and the series does not seem interesting.

Blossom, nobody knows much about the series, only the first episode has been released, I think that it is too early to abandon it.

I saw the first eps last night, and as Blue said its irritating seeing same characters with different story line.

Its like somehow they are older (not all but some of them).

Mai Otome just ended yesterday, I have to admit that I quite enjoyed it regardless of the fact that the first one was way better, but this still had its charm and the same excellent emotional way of storytelling. The story was nice, the fight scenes were awesome, and the music was fantastic.

The music was the best thing.. I wonder where I can find that spanish music when they were fighting in the end..

But how come Nina didn't die? and Yuk her relationship with her so called father :p

But yeah I enjoyed it :)

Blue, have you seen April's fool's eps? if not then you should loooooooooool it was so funny.. I downloaded it by mistake thinking its the original thing.. then I found out its a fake eps.. eps 25 if you are wondering what I am talking about...

I just downloaded the full episodes and might start watching them this weekend. What do you mean April's fool episode Blood Rose?

eps 25 was subbed twice.. one was an april's fool's sub.. meaning it was not a real sub.. they were just making fun of the series and the charecters..
