i just wanted to ask if anyone knows about a store that sells pistols and such in oman ? i heard that there is but i gotta get the permission to have it first!

Its my hobby to collect knives/swords and guns, i found many in London but they said that they wont let it in :weep:

I don't think you need any permission for manual guns, permission is required for auto. guns as far as I know. And you can find guns (like saktoon, bu 3ashur, bu '7ams, etc) in tradional markets, like for example Nizwa market, etc.

am talking about handguns!

I don't think you will find pistols easly around and they are normally automatic, so I guess you will need a permission.

yeah, there's a shop called al qana9 in dubai suqs, do u know it ?
do they sell guns there ? i mean the ones am talkin bout ?

Well as long as I know you need a permit for any sort of automatic guns and pistols/hand-held guns, regardless of the purpose of obtaining them.

I'm pretty sure you can get whatever you want here in Oman, without having to risk smuggling anything in. Its just a matter of how determined you are in getting your hands on one, and knowing the right people.
I would presume that even pistols or handguns are avalaible in the interior region.

(P.S. BrAiKi.. if you're upto no good, then I have nothing to do with anything! :p )

yeah in ghubra there is a store that selld guns but you need the license and my cousin has the license and then by wasta he could by a gun in oman its really hard to buy a gun allthough I know some one who sells gloks and magnams he even has the croume magname!! but you need the license and if you buy a gun with out license you're in big trouble with the police...

There is a form from ROP you have to fill and once it is approved you will be given the permit to get a pistol and it has to be according to their spec .

I think yu must be above 21 and you mustnt have a bad record in the police and ofcourse you must have wasta.

A friend of mine had a permit. I think the form you fill in has to give some special reason for needing one, like a woman doctor who has to travel around in remote areas by herself at night.

But best not to have one; it's useless for shooting birds and if you just want to wave it around to feel like a man, then you need the form for a psychological consultancy, not a weapons permit.

By the way, you can buy these things very cheaply in Yemen. Forget Fatak's offer - get some wild Hadhrami guy to bring one over the border for you: A nice Polish AK-47, not a crappy Chinese one, is only $170 in Yemen - about OR 50. Anything else you want, a WWII Schmeiser, rocket propelled grenades, even an armoured car can be got for you. But you might get shot coming back over the Omani border.

I am in Iraq, and there are a lot of that kind of armoured cars here. The ones in the souq in Yemen though are the Russian khaki poor man's tank version, a steel box on wheels with a little gun on the top.

I know the shop in Ghubra ... and a place called Sniper in Ghala ... they have a good selection ... mostly glocks ...

The prices range from 100 - 600 Rials ... ofcourse a permit is required ... if you think you cannot get one ... let your people talk to some people who know some people who've been in jail before *throws halo to the nearest wall* ...

and you can always get one from Yemen through Dhofar ...

its allowed if you have a permint and they're also allowed to sell the guns coz mostly these shops have a contract with ROP...

But either way, selling firearms to teenagers is a dumb idea. Or to anyone who doesn't have a good reason to fear for their life for that matter. I hope the permit system is strict, and doesn't resemble the other ROP permit and licensing systems where the form has to be submitted with a folded OR 50 bill.

Braiki are you serious man?! I mean where in heaven can you have a pistol in Oman without a license? Such license will not be given just like that, unless you are a business man and carry huge amounts of money always and go to remote areas at night and all that or else if you are someone like Mimosa said a doctor and you have to travel alone during night time and all that. Unless then who would sell you a pistol. However if you are really looking for one, just go to Chicago, the guys there at least would lead you to having one.

When I came from Melbourne I brought a ninja katana sword, and some blade stars as a whole set but in Seeb International Airport they took it away from me saying Mamnoo3! Stupid customs....

That's weird.. not that I have tried it or anything, but from what I hear and from what I'm told, I'm assuming things like that wouldn't be allowed through customs :think:

there is one in ghala, but u need a license to buy, and license is stopped now :)

well as far as i know it is not forbidden and the licence are actully just for the police to have a record of ppl with weapons in the country but as far as i know this regierstration thing is actually a new law ... i have a freind who recently bought a "Klashinkof" or something close to that name and it was soo easy, got it in two weeks or something. So if u need to get one, just go with the rules and i dont think anything could go wrong.

Ook, what I just said is not possible anymore :cry: , seems like the law is changed, and licenses are stopped now :shy: . There was a period of time when they wanted to register all the weapons (including auto), so they allowed anyone with weapons to come along and just register it then simply get a lincense, so ppl took this change and smuggled the auto weapons from Yeman, UAE or what so ever and registered them as they had them from before and so got the license

now even if u managed to smuggle one (which is easy), u won’t get the license now. But maybe with a strong Vitamin W u might , I doubt it thought. GoOd LuCK anyway!:)

yah, its not permitted to have even those ones in oman :),, comeone, even having the plastic ones (with just sound) is not permitted to get it in fro UAE, so what about a real pistol :D

u can apply for a license, and they will look on why u want it, ur history, and inversigate in it, and eventually u'll get a license, some ppl take 6 months, some take 1 year, some even 3 years :) u and ur luck and ur history :D

Stigma, i hear even the license are not given anymore, they stopped it, awaain too many ppl with guns !!!

well, it was not really stopped, but it was taking ages, same as nowadays, it'll take ages, u may even forget u applied for a license, and u cant go check up on them, just leave it, they'll contact u when its approved, if it was approved, and not everyone gets approved.. its complicated :)

n btw I got a plastic one tho that really hurts, its from Thailand, n in the airport they didn't say anything about it!

but I think it's a good thing they did when they introduced these new rules about applications and things like that, lol I hear from my friend's that they know someone who has an AK! n i don't think that he has a license for it!
