The ninth International Youth Football Tournament will be held in Niigata from July 15-18, announced the Japan FA on Monday.
The six under-18 teams are Japan, Korea Republic, Oman, Romania, Albirex Niigata (J-1 club) Youth, and the Niigata High Schools’ selection team. The openers will see Korea Republic clash with Romania while Japan take on Alibrex Niigata on July 15 at the Shiunji Memorial Stadium.
A squad of 18 Japanese players was also named by the FA. The tournament will give a chance to coach Yasushi Yoshida to test his charges as they prepare for the AFC U-20 Championship qualifiers in November in which Japan are grouped with Chinese Taipei and DPR Korea.
