I have a guitar, which I'm looking to sell. I dont have it right now, my cousin has it, and she might buy it, but shes in Dubai so I dont know when I'll get it back. But if she doesnt buy it, and I get it back, I'll PM you if you're still interested!

Its a steel string acoustic, so its not a gypsy nylon string guitar. The difference in looks is that it has a slightly thinner neck and no frets. The strings are heavier and have a more 'twangy' metallic sound.

I have a 20 year old Yamaha accoustic guitar. Strings are all gone. Bought it for music class when I was in the 5th grade and haven't used it since.

Would it have any value if I sell it?

I'd buy it, if you were to name a suitable price :p

How big is it? Is it a full-sized one or half sized? Dents, scratches, etc.?

PT, forget about price. I have no idea if it's a good guitar or a piece of sh!t. If it's good and it can be of use to anyone then you can have it for free. It's just lying there in storage since forever. I'll go dig it up and give you the details.

Toxic, if you want a brand new spanish guitar go to Genetco downstairs in Al Araimi. They're the agents for Yamaha musical instruments.

I find Tunes used to fairly well prices, but of late they've upped their prices. An amp I got roughly a year ago, Marshall MP15 I think, for 40 rials, is now 55. And the guitar I got about 2 or so years ago, electric, has gone up rougly 20 rials in price as well.

The guitar I have is about 3 years old or so...but its in good condition because mostly for the last 2 years I didnt touch it. I dont think there are any scratches or dents. You might need to change the strings because they say you should change the strings once every 3 months or so, and I changed them in March :)

Price, I havent decided if I want to sell it yet, but if I do get it back then I'll look at the condition and how much its worth and let you know then ;)

Classical-Nylon Acoustic Guitar Natural - Spain's long tradition of finely crafted classical guitars is fully expressed in this Manuel Rodriguez creation. Solid Canadian red cedar is used for the top, and mated to Indian rosewood for the back and sides. The sapele neck carries a rose wood fretboard, and tuners are nickel. Natural gloss finish.

Great for soft single singing.I bought it a few years ago from Leeds-UK and it has an original suitcase and a very smart electronic tuner.

I'm honestly not looking into money out of it, I just want to get rid of it, since I don't use it and it takes some space in my room.

I already sent ya a private message, but i thought i'd rather post it here maybe someone else would get interested.

I have a black accoustic guitar ... a Samich (branch from Samick) ... John (or who ever) Bernete design ... a very nice neck .. recently changed Super Light strings from D' Addrio ... mmm, yes it has a preamp, which means you can connect it to an amp (speaker) ...

It seriously has one dent, one medium and one small ... a few scratches notciable under light only, I really take care of it and the scratches aren't from misuse ...

It has a beautiful sound ... Reason for sale ? .. curiousity

My friend has a spare classic, but it needs some work, very nice design and body but it needs a new thing (pick up) or whatever you call those ..

I want to buy one, my guitar is getting old and i need a new one to begin my third level of practice.

Toxic honey , Whats your budget and are you a begginer ?
If you are then i suggest that you go for Yamaha C80 , they are located down in al araimy complex in qurum... Good luck ;)

Tell me your budget and your status if you are a beginner or not and what type style are you into... and I will tell you what to go for and where ;)

and by the way, you can order a customize guitar directly from spain from TUNES ;)

Toxy...are you sure it's a Spanish guitar you want? It really depends on what kind of music you want to play. If you are going to learn Flamenco-style guitar, than that's great. But otherwise I think you might find a more versatile steel-strung acoustic a little easier to get on with. The neck will be a little narrower and the action lower (i.e. the strings closer to the frets). Although the strings are harder, it's actually a lot easier on your hands when you begin - especially if your hands are quite small.

Ti3gib mentioned that he has put "extra light" strings on his guitar. This means that the strings are thinnner and therefore easier to manipulate with your fingers - again a good idea for a beginner in some ways. But as your fingers get more used to it, put some hevier strings back on: What you lose in weight, you also lose in timbre or sound quality of the instrument. I don't know if Ti3 has done this because he is a beginner, or perhaps because he likes metal - it is easier to play lots of notes very fast with thinner strings!

P.S. Braiki - who is "known as the best electric guitar player in Oman"?! I have only seen a couple of Omani guys on stage...I think I might know the guy you mean.

Hi to all and hi toxic_honey and Genius

well to correct Mr genius not me nor my brother are good flamenco players.. we are just trying to learn it ;)

however.. to answer Mr. toxic_honey Q brifly

there are lots and lots of Guitar types .. for example if you just take the Alhambra guitars flamenco style.. in flamenco it self there are lots of Flamenco guitars.. for Exmple.. the back wood might be jasmeen wood or german cypres or indian rose wood or brazilian rose wood.. or any other type.. all these of course goes to the player who will play the guitar and its matter of personal tast

you can play any style using any guitar.. its the notes which sound.. you can play flamenco even with piano for example.. how ever the best suites are as following:

the main style for which different guitars are used... are
Flamenco.. Nylone Strings
Classic .. Nylone Strings
Jazz .. Aucoustic Nylone or Metal Strings
Punk .. Electric Metal String
folk .. Electric Metal String
Rock .. Electric Metal String or acoustic Metal String.. (depened whether its slow or hard rock )

this is in brif .. i can write the whole night about it lol

further more it would be better if you just mention which style you are interested in .. at the end you gona produce music ;) and thats what matters

hope that helped if you do need further information i will do my best to help you.. that if i am able to help .. orther wise i will direct you to the right person whom has better knowledge than me about a particular style

evantually i am sorry for my spelling mistakes :)

thank you all and have sweet times

I bought a spanish guitar from TUNES in Al-Khuwair 2 years ago, and I've been using it since.. I must say that it's better than any other high class spanish guitar I've ever seen, that's why I love it..

It's very cheap with high high quality.. 20 Rials (Maybe now it's 15), I recommend it if you wanna play it on daily basis or so, if you play it often the sound will become smoother and smoother.. Plus I've been playing alot on it, and the stings never broke, except for one because I did some stupid mistakes last year.. But the rest are perfect..

I recommend it..

Buying a cheap guitar is much better than an expensive one.. Let's not forget that fact that most of the people who buy guitars give up in the first month of so.. So then why waste the money? PLUS cheap guitars are very good too.. And easy to teach yourself with them..

I'm not talkin about the 7 rial guitar in City Center :P

Haroundb
27-05-06, 01:53 PM
Solidus is correct, all the greatest musicians did start their career with an instrument which can hardly worth the name! So the idea is about the skill of the person who want to buy. Most of those who learn playing music just spoil the instrument they use before they can master the basics. Handling a guitar is a knowledge in itself. You need to know the physicals of it before you can hold it. Like driving cars, you shouldn't practice driving in a brand new car (unless you are very rich and stupid!) :).

It is a good practice to try the cheaper ones and then when you master how to use it and handle it, then it will be the time to but a good quality one. Then only you will appreciate it and know how to care for it and will have more apatite to play more, the more you buy fine guitars of higher quality.

Solidus

A rule about guitar stings: The more you play, the smoother the sound becomes..

ti3gib
29-05-06, 02:17 PM
Yes it does, in my guitar .. it's not good smother, it's pretty bad ... I have to change the last 4 bass strings every two months or so ... I don't like the sound at all when they "sound consumed"...

It might be my nut (Man that sounds so wrong :P) .. I broke my guitar nut some while back and got a handmade replacment from Tunes, which happens to suck majorly ... I wanna get a new guitar sometime soon, even though it comes quite late on my get list.
