Sallam,
Part [4], relating to the Bride's preparation .
---------------------
Coming now to the busiest part of the whole wedding process, which can take a lot of time and money spent. This stage really varies from one bride to another and to what she needs to be done on her, by her and for her.
Some brides need about 3-9 months to prepare, and some needs about 12 months and some need only few weeks and she is ready!
==========================================
Well, as I said every bride has her differences from another bride; and in our family we had many wedding sets in the past years, either preparing a bride or a groom Mashallah.
But the most recent wedding we had was of my sister, which took place few months back.
Her preparation took place of about 5 months, even thought there was a break time within. Usually the bride does not do much in our family, apart of giving her opinion in some things and the rest goes back the person who is organizing the wedding.
In our case the person who was organizing my sister’s wedding was our Mother.
So our mother knows well what would my sister like to have and not to have in her wedding, plus my mother’s touch always makes things perfect and lovely, Mashallah.
In this stage not only the bride gets to be prepared but the female of the family as well, and specially the ones who would be her bride maids.
The preparation starts with the bride:
* Buying new cloths and textiles, to prepare or ask the tailor to sew new dresses.
* Buying jewellery and all sorts of accessories for the bride
* Buying new shoes, handbags, make-up sets
* Buying other stuff that she needs
* Preparing the bride physically and emotionally. Physically in the meaning of, if she needs to lose weight then some exercise and diet would be started and to watch how much she needs to lose and to balance her shape. As well as the look is part of the physically appearance. She goes through lots of beauty sessions in trying to look more beautiful and to look amazing on her wedding night. Emotionally preparation is the step which is a bit difficult, because most of brides to tend to get scared of what will happen when they get married and they have this ideas flying in their minds and people around them trying to frighten them and this and that. So preparing the bride emotionally is important and making her understand realise that marriage life is not a game and it is something new that she will be living in and how she could make it easy or hard and how she needs to control it to make it a good, peaceful and relaxed life at least in the first few months.
Emotionally preparing does not only come with wordings yet with actions, so we did set some sessions for my sister to be in a sauna or a spa or the steaming rooms, 2 days a week, and she can go with any friend, cousin or aunty and she could spend hours just relaxing.
Taking her around and spend more time with her chilling and having fun and enjoy the moments with her.
While the above is happening, the below is taking place 2:
* The groom gets to arrange the place that he and his bride will be staying.
* In our case, mum and the groom took the part, and mum worked on decorating my sister’s bedroom for her to be a surprise gift. And as mum is an Interior designer and decorator so she knows exactly what she is doing.
* The decoration took place from the smallest place in the room to the biggest thing,
The preparation of the bride maids:
In this case it was us, as me and my other 2 sisters and a cousin;
Well, as me and one of me sister did not stay in Oman for sometime while the preparation was taking place, so we had to live every thing to be in our mother’s hand. We only had to control in not to gain weight, which we did not manage!!!! *duh*
Any way, the bride in our family is not allowed to be seen by any one apart of close female members of the family, the sisters and the mother. The period of time varies frome ach bride to another depending on her demand of going to work or sore of thing, but it is restricted process and she has to be away from the seen of the people, specially a month before the wedding night.
=======================
This is the end or I should say the brief of how we did prepare for our sister’s wedding.
