Residents of the six GCC states may be forced to buy brand new cars as traffic chiefs in these wealthy countries have fixed the life expectancy of saloon cars to five years only. This rule, which is part of a unified GCC traffic law reviewed by the officials during their meeting here in Abu Dhabi, means that used cars may not any more be registered in these countries.

Who will pay for the brand new car every 5 years? them?

Perhaps such law would be implemented when each of these 6 GCC countries manufacture cars of their own.

If they will pay for a newer car of the same model I am using right now, or for a better one, so then I dont mind it at all!


I dont believe this is true!

No its not like how its mentioned in the e-mail (I got the mail)

its like this: after 5 years of using your car, each year you renew your car you must get a check that everything is alright .. its done now every 10 years

as how arabian princess explained ...THATs more logical and well known!
its also that the ones whom gonna check the cars are of private company NOT the ROP any more...(thats the plan so far)

Aha, this is explains it! For the current system its 10 years & checked by the ROP.
