CrazyReD 22-06-05, 06:45 AM In it's effort to promote the sport more Oman Bowling center in Khuwair will host a tournament between 26-27 of june which is open to any women in the country.
last day to sign up is june 26. The fee is 10 rials and it's open for females 15 and up.
the first prize winner will get a crystal cup. The top 3 finishers get money and the top 5 finishers get gsm's plus some promotional items from Sultan stores. There are also certificates and medals.
if any members of the sabla participate fill us in =)
hmm not so into cups, money.. how much :p as for GSM depends on the brand.. hmm ok I don't think I will join :p
I never went bowloing in my life. Do a lot of women go bowling? and do you guys expect a lot of women to join?
CrazyReD 22-06-05, 08:56 AM I dunno I'd think there'll be women signing up especially the non Omanies hope the Omani ladies sign up
Bowling in Oman has really caught up the guys are playing in world tournaments so it's good that it's catching up
DeSerTDesTroYeR 22-06-05, 09:45 AM Interesting... Are crowds allowed to witness the tournament?
CrazyReD 22-06-05, 09:55 AM i'd think crowds are encouraged
DeSerTDesTroYeR 22-06-05, 10:20 AM Really! Then more girl participating would be discouraged to join... :p
lol for sure most of the crowd will be guys :p and as DD said more girls will chagne mind about joining..
CrazyReD 22-06-05, 11:42 AM well there should be security and all
Aha same as in mahrajanat right :)
Cool! I want to go watch them.
I wonder how good the players are :hmm:

CrazyReD 22-06-05, 09:12 PM no prob and good luck tell us about it ok
*FaLLiNG STaR* 22-06-05, 09:17 PM Warda the place there is FULL of teenage guys... the place is really nice to hang out in BUT thats the only thing annoying about it.... and in 2nd floor u go and play computer games and ofcourse guys go there... and instead of playing they will watch the girls playing bowling downstairs :mmhmm:... but u know 70% of the guys are Non-omani..
CrazyReD 22-06-05, 09:23 PM i need to check that place out when i'm back in oman
well i think the organizers want this to be successful (or so i hope) so they must have thought of a solution
NiGhTFaCe 23-06-05, 02:25 AM I never saw Omani ladies playing Bowling here in Oman. But, I saw some in India! They were good! Lets see if they will participate!
Arabian Prince 23-06-05, 04:45 AM Women's Bowling Competition in Oman..
Wow.. thats something you dont hear everyday! :D (Maybe its because this is the first? )
Well I'm glad the women in Oman are given a shot at such sporting tournaments. I'm sure there will be so many contestants, and with some good talents too. Hey who ever said you couldn't score straight strikes from under a abbaya? :p
Well I have to admit that most of what FS has mentioned is true unfortunately. However I do believe that the organizers would try to make this as successful as possible, hence trying to eliminate discouraging factors as such. :)
I'm veryyy sure that a large number of foreigners will participate (obvious), but they will mainly be Filipino. By God they must be some of the best out there. Mashallah 3alaihom, they're fully equipped and fully loaded :D
Ofcourse I'd want any of the sabla ladies to take the title though :)
So anyone up for it besides Warda perhaps?
TripleTee 23-06-05, 04:54 AM Lol @ AP...
though I wouldn't have minded participating I guess it wouldn't serve much since I never tried it, unless I were to depend on luck!
But I do hope the prize goes to our women... well... good luck to the participants!...
DeSerTDesTroYeR 23-06-05, 11:47 AM We need an insider... to keep us updated with how the event goes.. :mmhmm:

DeSerTDesTroYeR 23-06-05, 02:39 PM Alright, female sabla members.. that might be joining... whats the highest score you have every had? So far that's Wardat_il'7leej and Empress. Anyone else?
Cute_One 23-06-05, 03:07 PM Sure thing , Cute-One . But you are in Qatar ! Wait a minute , I never saw you bowl , I don't know whether you will be better than Warda and I . :D

Arabian Prince 25-06-05, 03:10 PM Well since you asked, I'm assuming you're quite familiar with Muscats roads and places :)
Its in Al-Khuwair, opposite the Holiday Inn. Its relatively new, its been less than a year I think since its opening. :)

NiGhTFaCe 26-06-05, 02:51 AM Bonita,
there is another one in Bahja center and another one in ruwi (sheraton if I am not mistaken)
I believe there is one in Sultan Qaboos University as well!
CrazyReD 26-06-05, 04:40 AM there's another place to go bowl can't remember if it's seeb novtell or that place in Ruwi
Cute_One 26-06-05, 06:02 AM i heard they are openning a huge one in shatti is that true ?... right across janeen restaurant
CrazyReD 26-06-05, 07:19 AM i've no idea
Arabian Prince 26-06-05, 04:46 PM Yes they're all somewhat true...
Existing ones: Bahja Complex, Al-Khuwair (Oman Bowling Centre), Sultan Qaboos University and Sheraton Hotel (Ruwi).
The one in Novotel (which is now Golden Tulip Hotel) used to exist. It was shut down a couple of years ago (maybe on or two), a restaurant is now open in its place.
Yes they are currently building one in Shatti Al-Qurm, right behind Ramada Hotel (across the former Jenin). :)
Pineapple Thief 26-06-05, 04:48 PM Interesting, might pass by for a while on the 27th. Just cause theres nothing else to do!
*FaLLiNG STaR* 26-06-05, 08:03 PM Existing ones: Bahja Complex, Al-Khuwair (Oman Bowling Centre) and Sheraton Hotel (Ruwi).
PLUS the one is Sultan Qaboos University :)
Arabian Prince 27-06-05, 01:26 AM Thanks for pointing it out FS...
All done! ;)
Wardat_il'7leej 27-06-05, 10:17 AM Yipppeee another bowling center, and this time in a prime location :D
CrazyReD 27-06-05, 08:57 PM next sabla meetin bowling place :p
DeSerTDesTroYeR 27-06-05, 09:01 PM so none went to check out this competition??? 26 was yesterday and 27 is today.. :hmm:
CrazyReD 28-06-05, 09:57 AM I'm a bit sad to report this but oh well
In the trade and crafts room they gave the awards and they gave recognition to the Omani women who participated. Unfortunatley the competition was won by a non Omani :( and it was the Philipino Dang who won in 2nd place went to princes, 3rd was Sherly and 4th went to Taiwan and 5th went to Noora.
As for the Omani ladies first place went to Aida Al Farsi with 531 points and 2nd was Nawal al A'aghbary
As you can seebig difference between the first place Aida and 2nd place Nawal but hopefully they get better :cute:
Pineapple Thief 28-06-05, 01:03 PM I passed by for about 3 minutes, it was full of guys, so we just left. :)
Arabian Prince 28-06-05, 05:07 PM I missed it.. how could've I missed it with nothing better to do?! :mmhmm:
Oh well I'll try making it for the second Women's Bowling Comp... sometime within the next 6-7 years maybe? :p
Just as I suspected.. a non-Omani took the title.. but hand's together for all the Omani women who have participated nontheless, they truly deserve some recognition for the efforts, participation and sportsmanship :)
MiSs DeViL 29-06-05, 02:40 AM 7amaaas i didnt know that.. if i am in oman i would have signed up cuz i thihnk i am pretty good in bowling..
iamnasra 29-06-05, 01:52 PM Okay I guess Im late for this
Maybe my first step is to learn
Angel_Eyes 29-06-05, 03:48 PM A bowling place for women!? Wow,I am proud to hear that Oman is progressing! I think i'll pay a visit to the place! Thanks for letting me know y'all!
*FaLLiNG STaR* 29-06-05, 07:16 PM well better luck to us next time Inshallah. :)
DeSerTDesTroYeR 29-06-05, 07:26 PM Angel_Eyes: It's only a competition, not a standalone place only for women...
