As a nation do you consider us (Omanies) as hard workers that can be in any place or you think that we are now used to the A/C and chair behind the disk?

This question came into my mind...
Are we hard workers???

I know its NOT good to generalize BUT look at the Japaneze
whats the general impression for whom ever going to there??

THEY ARE A HARD WORKING NATION that Consider Work as a HOLY Thing!!!
They are organized! they respect time..and every one knows his duty!
and during weekends THEY are totaly different!!!!

in fact they are workoholic!

BUT what about us??

what about arabs in a bigger schale??

lol... interesting... well I can't tell about all arabs, but Omanies!!... I'm sorry to say that most of them ARE lazy!!... but I really can't give a percentage here... cuz some Omanies I know are very hardworking... some are active outside and lazy in their country... some are lazy all the way.......but the common thing would go more to laziness than hardworking.... however!! to be honest, I'm beginnig to see some difference lately since I've a feeling it's gradually changing and Omanies are becoming more active...

I can't really judge some are really hard workers and some are just lazy and some don't care

in fact i cant generalize the idea that Omanis or other arab nations are hardwrokers cause its different from person to other ,,, you can see some are very very hard workers that they do consider work as a hooly thing ,, where in other side some do work as a duty to finish with ,,

unlike Japan ,, you cant generalize the idea here

as Omanis we might not be as hardworking as the japaneese, but we improving in that area.. and this is one advantage of unemployment .. it makes us look for oppertunities and work hard to maintain them!

wht the point of working hard in oman... ?

indian gangs are taking all the money and investing them outside oman.. they have the best positiions in oman and the rest are quiet about it ?
Indians in oman spread the romurs of omanis not being hard working so thnat they can get the high positions and leave the omanis with nothing and treat them bad bcuz omanis are the kind pple in the gulf ...

im sorry to say this but i heard this from more than one person who work in banks , all the pple who invest the 'high'' pple money are not even omanis ..they respect more foreigners( indians to be specific) than omanis .. my cousins wife is French algerian but when she used to work in oman she never mentioned she was arab so that she would be more respected and thats reality u . they even have stronger positions than omanis have to change b4 its too late... Even if u go to lebenese restaurant or an irani restaurant( AS if check whose the manager) all u find is greesy humous ( not lebenese without taste ) or bad rice to mention where are other countries this would never happen ..


with my respect to all nationalities but thats the truth ....it hurts everytime i see pple complaining about it but no one can do anything about it ..

Omanis are known from a long time how hard among the khaleejis they were since years and years b4 any civilasation in the arabian gulf .. Even the women were famous to be tough ? just bcuz they are kind hearted they are taken advantage of without even noticing ...some might noticfe but not talk about it ..

Theres a certain culture in businesses in Oman that paying the least is always the best, and thats why Omanis dont work in corner shops. But it is true that many Omanis are lazy, unfortunately.

Why focus on japan? focus on our neighbours.. are we even close to as hard working as they are? are we nearly as developed as they are? we are lightyears away and you know what? I kinda like that. At least we can live in our caves in peace.

works where in Dubai exactly??...if ur talking about hotels and restaurants, then hardly any... just as little as we have in Oman.... and yet their country is more developed.... moreover... we have the majority of young people unemployed in Oman.... and what do they do?? sit and laze around cuz they can't find any jobs... I think this problem is more in Oman than anywhere else in the gulf...

to my respect Dubai was bult by the hands of foreigners Through the Pockets of the nationals...BUT this might not last for ever!

and its almost the same in many of the gulf countries BUT nevertheless
we do see OMANIES working now in Hotels!, petrol stations, etc etc

BUT when looking at them doing so..I find some good number of them have NO SPIRIT while working!!....

example: I asked an Omani working in a resturant..what kind of Sandwiches you do have...answer: shawarma. FULL STOP!!!
asked a foreigner: The same question: shawarma meat, shawarma chicken, burger meat, burger special, club sandwich...etc (BY the way it was my test here cause bOTH worked in the same resturant!!!)....

Sorry, it is impossible to prove you wrong...omani's are lazy, we just have to accept the fact.

There are a lot of reasons on why omani's are lazy and merely calling them lazy without checking into the reason of their laziness is shamefull and degrading to Oman as a whole.

not so hard working in general, and NOT WORKING AT ALL especially when it comes to certain places which i dont want to mention here!!!

we had a japanese exchange student in the last school I was in ... and in breaktime , when we ate , ran around , shouted , did everything stupid ... she sat in the art room and sharpened color pencils ! ... just to make that 'waste' time productive

it stuck in my mind since , that we are really lazy people ... Lazy waste of oxygen ...

There is not anu such thing as hard workers in Middle East specially in the Guld we are more hard worker in consuming product than inventing . To me Hard working is invention of things .

From the Islamic point of view our great prophet pbuh said in one of the hadiths what it means "if any of you took a rope and went collecting wood better for him than asking people either gave him or not".

Now regarding Omanies and current situation, I would say it's all based on satisfaction. If the employee is satisfied at work he won't ask for a sick leave or try wasting his/her time in reading newspapers. It's all to do with low income, if the person is receiving a good income at the end of the month then it's the drive to make him work harder.

Another issue is lack of jobs, people spend many years in finding a job espacially school graduates, so at the end if they found a job it will be not up to their expectations and this will result in not taking the job seriously.
