There are news that the 2nd and 3rd division clubs would be merged into one division where there'll be 5 groups and they play a style similar to how it's played in Brazil.

Personally I think thats a good idea because it gives 3rd divison teams more exposure and there should be more crowd turout because of the local derbies

the clubs and groups break out are as follows

Batna clubs (7) [ssaham, souhar, khaboora, mossna'a,slam, shabbab,rustaq)
Dakhliya clubs (5) [nizwa, sama'al, finja, hamara'a, basha'ar]
Musandam clubs (4) [bakha, madha'a, kahssab, daba]
Sharqiya (7) [tamel and wafi, modhebi, wahda, bidya, itefaq, ja'alan, massera]
Dhofar clubs (3) [hillal, mirbat, itehad]
Dhara clubs (2) [ibri, yanqil]
Muscat clubs [bosher, quriyat, ahli-sedab]

the groups would be:

Batna group (3 qualify to the playoff round)
Sharqiya group (3 qualify to the playoff round)
Dhara and Dakhliya group (3 qualify to the playoff round)
Dhofar and Muscat group (3 qualify to the playoff round)
Musandam group (1 qualifies to the playoff round)

This would be good for the teams to play more games!
