I noticed it from Al Khuwair roundabout until Airport roundabout. There were 11 radars! And they are duel sided! :bored: As in each radar functions for both sides!.

I was wondering why the road momentum was calm! :o

There are many benefits to these radars and some disadvantages.

Some benefits would be to control the average speed on these roads, which leads to less speeding accidents.

Disadvantages. More cars remain on the first lane and cause some sort of traffic.

What other benefits or disadvantages do you consider?

The radars are installed how far have they been installed beyond the range I mentioned? And are they actually functioning :think:

There are actually radars every two or three kilometers all the way from Darseit. Eventually there will be over 100 of these. The ROP is spending like 6 million rials on them. Pretty soon no one will be speeding in here.

Lets hope so. It aint worth the deathcount.

Good to see them! :D I believe these will cover something like 1.4 Km, where you wont able to speed again, because there is another one expecting you :p


They will cover the main road, where I think in the new Southern road they are planning to do, the speed will be around 120 Km.

the road to city centre was so bad this morning! wht the hell ? all those cameras! ppl were driving in the fast lane at 80!

lool dam3iti .. actually it means its working .. ofcourse the speed there is 120 so those who drive 80 are wrong .. later on they will settel of the right speed.

Excellent move.. less speading , less accidents ( not necessarily ,but better safe than sorry).

If the speed radars mean that the police have one less thing to worry about and now they can concentrate on other dangerous motoring offenses like tail-gaters, reckless drivers, people who overtake outside the yellow line, etc, then good.

My fear is that the ROP thinks that the only cause of accidents is speeders.

Yes they are functioning...I have been caught on one of them half an hour ago! :(

What I know about this, that they will allow additional 15km/hr before start charging u.. its like where the speed limit is 100 like near the Great Mosque..u can speed up to 115km/hr.. and for 120 limit u can go u to 135, prior making fine on u… heey this what I heard only…

Some just dont care about the amount of money they will pay for speeding so I don't think such thing will make them not speed and have car races on the road..

I've definately seen a change in driving habbits already. I guess even though there's just too many of them, it'll be worth it in the long run. I hope!

I already got 3 speed tickets, but from the Sultani Road..
Usualy when I drive to City Center I go upto 120-140, plz dont say I'll be caught :(

Even if they didnt, I think that ROP system notices the multi speeding fines and they take additional action if it was too much. Though not sure about this. Just heard about it from someone.

.. the idea is good.. but they r just too much.. i mean u cant go above 120 !!
