I have discussion with someone :)

When you want to drive should you lower the side brake first and then put the brake on (D)

Or should you start with the D and then lower the side brake

and the same when parking, should you (P) first and pull up the side brake or vice versa.

Didn't you learn this when you started driving?

OK, when you get in the car, you check the gear shift is in neutral, and start the engine. The hand brake (or "parking brake") is still on, so you don't need to touch the brake peda if it's a manual car. With a manual car, you use the clutch and accelerator pedals to find the "bite point" (the point where the car starts pulling), and then gently release the hand brake to start moving. With a automatic transmission, you put your foot on the brake pedal, then take off the hand brake, then switch from brake pedal to accelerator pedal to move.

When you stop, it's the same for manual or automatic: You stop with the brake pedal. You keep the brake pedal pushed down, then put the car into neutral, put on the hand brake, then release the brake pedal.

Is that OK?!

No :) My driving learning experience was really hectic :mmhmm: that's why I'm asking, I'm a newbie in the field

I have a automatic car.
I did not get it all, so let me tell you what I understood:

1- When I get in the car the normal thing is that the gear would be on "P" for parking and the side brake would be lifted up. Is n't that right? or should it be neutral? :shy:
2- start the engine
3- then I put my feet on the brake padal
4- lower the hand brake
5- move the gear from "P" to "D"

I'm just confused about the order of 4 and 5 are they right ot it should be the other way round?

Thanks a lot!

Put your foot on the brake.
Put the car in gear ("D")
Remove the hand brake.

OK?

Then when you get out of the car:

Put your foot on the brake
Put the gear in "P"
Put on the hand brake.

Thats funny. When starting an automatic car, I do what you just described Mimosa, but when trying to answer the question, I couldnt think of the order I do it!

Must come naturally...
