Saddam morale has plummeted due to the gravity of the war crimes charges he faces, according to comments published Saturday from the chief investigating judge trying the former Iraqi president.
Raid Juhi, head of the Iraqi Special Tribunal set up to try Saddam, also said the ousted president and some of the 11 other detained former regime figures are facing "12 cases" that carry punishments from life in jail to the death penalty
Saddam's lawyer, Khalil al-Duleimi, rejected Juhi's comments, telling The Associated Press that his client was in high spirits and that he was not aware of the 12 cases the judge referred to.
"The last time I met Saddam was in late April and his spirits were very high," al-Duleimi said.

What would your morale be like knowing you are soon going to face a trial that you could get the death penalty for crimes that you know you are guilty? The same people that you commited these crimes against are some of the very people going to be in charge of your trial and they easily have all the evidence they need to convict you for your crimes.

His morale being down is not only believable but understandable.

A balad is going to be staged.
Law constituted by installed Government under occupation.
Out of 500 he he will be tried on only 12 well documented charges.
To create public opinion , propagand began.
Death penaty has been included.

Why not shari law? Don't you think they can find 4 credible male or 8 credible female witness's? I'm sure they can find 1000's of credible witness's ;)

Not bad idea.
Other option is there, you can try to trail him under the law of United Methodist Church. Bush will like more.

How sad! The once fearless Arab leader that stood up to the mighty US empire is now a snivelling little baby with low morale.

You just made my day Shammy. thanks!

Time has not yet come to draw a conclusion.
The propaganda is essential to demoralize Iraqis as well as Anti War people. Preemptive media is much more shameless than Goebbles.

Only God knows best.

But I have a feeling, he will be prosecuted and found guilty of all charges and probably might get the death penalty.(After all, his case, is the US case.)

It's all just a propaganda set up by (we know who) and the final outcome is very predictable.

Very unpredictable situation.
But I assume, his trail will make more debate in international community.
If Saddam do not ask pardon , he may have to face death penalty.

Now if only we could have his physical collapse, that would be really good news.

It's all just a propaganda set up by (we know who) and the final outcome is very predictable.US wants him charged with all 500 cases. The Iraqi authorities have decided to charge him with 12 cases that they know they can prove without any doubt in anyones mind.

Actually all it will take is 1 conviction of any of these 12 charges to do the deed.

No, it will not be good news for you.
Saddam will chase you even after death.

Saddam will chase you even after death. We will soon see how much chasing he will do.

He has been praying though ... :p

Save me from this prison
Lord help me get away
Cause only you can save me now
From this misery
Cause I’ve been lost in my own place
And I’m getting’ weary
How far is heaven
And I know I need to change
My ways of livin’
How far is heaven, Lord can you tell me
Cause I’ve been locked up way too long
In this crazy world
I just keep on prayin’ Lord
I just got to know how far
Lord can you tell me
You that's in a higher place
Send me down a blessing
Cause I know there’s a better place
Than this place I’m livin’
And I just got to have some faith
And just keep on giving
I just wanna know how far ... how far is heaven
