Why is it that everytime I see a picture of Oman, I see something that looks fake? Like as if no people live in Oman. Like as if everything was drawn by hand?
I havent come across any pictures regarding tourism that actually shows the true Oman. Like show the City Centre, Al arami, Bahja, show the gardens with people there, The park, The highways with all their cars, the taxi stand near OCC. Know what i mean?
sallam Abs, there are some pictures of what you mean and they were going to be part of the next group......
dont rush in asking for something before its time:p

My goodness sweet Solafa! Those pictures are so cool sis. Like Arby said if you could only give us the names of the places where these pictures were captured, that would have been a great add into them. As its so beautiful places, I guess the one which is showing green mountains would be Salalah! Its a great place to visit eh??
Thug4Life 08-05-05, 12:59 AM wonderful pix...well done Solafa this is a nice thread :)
Sallam,
Empress and King,
Thank you for informaing me about the demolishing of the Fort roundabout, it is really sad that after all these years it just ends up being demolished and not reused somewhere else:(.
I used to like that roundabout, and always thought it was one of the beautiful roundabouts in Oman, plus it is near to my home :hehe:
Such a pity :(
====
King, i really thank you for providing the thread with the link about Oman, i do really appreciate your thoughts of sharing it in here.:)

Young guys, taking the jobs on the behalf of their fathers, to earn money for their living.
This is a sign of that Omanis are trying not to limitate their profisions only within the offices, instead in all sort of jobs, Which is Great. :)

Again, the selling and buying proccess does not only take place where are some buildings are erected!
They aslo take place in the desert within the Beduins.

One of the famouse sports in oman is the Camel racing. As Camel are well known to be the most expancive animal that can be sold. Not to forget that Camel in the old days were the ride for the beduins and a source of meat and milk, as well as skin for tents:)
Beduin used to give away Camel instead of money to pay dawry, when they want to get married!:)

Another type of traditional dance. I would assume it to be of areas between Al-dakhiliya and Al-sharqiya Regions......
Am not sure though, so dont take it as a final location by me!

BliNd_MelOn 11-05-06, 12:17 AM aaaw Libellula! Thats the beach where I go swimming on weekends! :D simply magnificant!
Libellula 11-05-06, 12:28 AM I used to go swimming there a few years ago. We'd rent those banana boats from the little rental shop, or get those bikes and ride them on the beach.
Anyway, that beach was my spot over Xmas break, hehe. I'd go really early in the morning after everyone at home had left for work/school, and I'd just sit there with my book. The weather was perfect and it was just so relaxing. :) It was peaceful as well, until kids who skip school and creepy guys showed up after 9 am, lol.
SlowChemical 11-05-06, 12:36 AM Solafa, Libellula very nice pictures looks professional keep it up and thanks for sharing..

BeachBambi 26-12-06, 11:39 AM Pic 69
Please do not mix up the Junaibia region with Salalah city - completely different. The girls are local Dhofari girls, most probably from Taqah or Mirbat. The dress they are wearing is called Abu Dhail (the one with the tail) which is only worn in the Dhofar area. The dresses in the picture are of heavy black velvet and are worn only on special occasions - for every day they wear cotton dresses.
The Junaibi are bedus and from the desert area (Hayma, Adam, Jiddat Harrasis...). They are not from the city or the mountain area and are very proud of their desert heritage and origins. They would take great offence at being referred to as coming from Salalah city.

I apologise for the miss-leading information provided by me, excuse my ignorance about the exact details of the South Region of Oman society = Al-manteqa Al-Janubia.
But I really appreciate and I thank you for providing the above information, that I found it to be educational not only for others but for my self.
Thank you a lot.

BeachBambi 27-01-07, 10:18 AM Really the pictures you take are fabulous and far supercede the pictures that are published in the incredibly overpriced books that are produced. Your pictures show Oman and the Omani people exactly as it is and as they are.
This is a super thread - please don't stop!
hello all,
As the title says, this thread is will present pictures related to Oman as Gallery on Oman. For those who don’t know how Oman looks like, this is an opportunity for them to have a great look at some pictures.
For those who have more pictures about Oman and would like to share them in here and to add to my Gallery you will be more than welcome to do so.
Hope you would enjoy this Gallery, and if you would like to comments on them pictures, feel free to do so :)

wow .. some great photos about Oman over here!
Guys carrying some sort of drums, hold by a tight threaded rop around their neck.
It is part of the old typical omani musical insturments, that gives a beautiful sounds.
http://www.edwebproject.org/oman-dubai/thumbnails/bustan.2drummers-tb.jpg
I have a drum like that. Got it from Libya. I guess it is traditional to 'arabic music' rather than any country..
Ah finally! Finished seeing them all!
I love the forts, the wadis, the greenery and of course, the resort.

BeachBambi 31-05-08, 02:51 PM Re: Salalah beach photo.
This is not Salalah beach - the only area even ever so slightly referred to as Salalah beach is near the Crowne Plaza. Ths beach pictured is next to Port Salalah and is known locally as 'Beer can bay" (the local reprobates and locals who like to have an illicit drink go there), the buildings on the hill are the Oasis social club and the residents club (port workers).
However, hats off to WT as it is a beautiful picture and shows what the neglected beautiful bay CAN and SHOULD look like.
too bad we're loosing 'em :(
World_Trekker 31-05-08, 03:58 PM Wow thanks BeachBambi for the insights. I think the beach is located 10-15km West of central Salalah , the sea is much much better than what I saw in many island resorts in Asia.
I didn't find any people there. I had the whole kilometre of beach just for me !
