Marry the rapist?

I heard of a case where a girl of 18 was raped by a man a few years older, a neighbour whom she knew vaguely. In order to avoid "shame" on the two families, the girl's father asked the Police not to pursue a case, and instead arranged for the girl the marry the man who raped her.

What is your view, and your interpretation of shari3a on this?

Well..mimosa this is a very sensitive issue..in my sect. they prohibit the marriage of the two because its one of the "kabaer", that is extreme level of dis-obedience, and according to the holy book, the quraan, he will be in an eternal hell-fire!

Other point of view is to do with one's dignity. The poor father of the girl wants to collect remnants of his dignity among the community by forcing the girl into marrying him.

Whatever the motives behind the raping..I want the shari3a to be fullfilled whether by stoning to death or lifetime imprisonment..etc

IF i was the little girl, I'd die rather than marry the guy who raped me, i'd be scared sh**less of him,

i think the father cares more about his rep. that his daughter's wellbeing..

no offense ppl, but MANY girls claim that a guy raped them while the truth is that they had sex by her OWN WILL...
They shouldn't get the gurl to marry the guy who she got raped by, he should get killed, and Allah will make it up for that gurl in Life or Afterlife

i have heard cases where a girl has been raped by a very close friend of hers whom she trusted...

so if she agrees to forgive her friend & marry him then its her decision...

otherwise the girls who spend their weekends in those wild parties getting drunk & eventually getting screwed by some strangers without their will, then they should change their attitude i guess...!

I thought there should be 4 witnesses for adultery(I don't think rape is found in the Quraan so it would fall under adultery) to stone them.... so did they do it in public? :eh:
