Most Muslims deny that Jesus(PBUH) was ever crucified. So then what really happened to him? Will someone shed some light to me.

Most Muslims deny that Jesus(PBUH) was ever crucified.

It's not most, should be all muslims.

And for muslims the important thing is to believe that prophet Issa PBUH is one of Allah prophets (i.e a human being). What happened to him we leave it to Allah, and we better say Allah A3lam.

Muslims believed that Allah SWT replaced Jesus with a man who God made to look like Jesus; one of the Jewish men who were behind the crucifiction:

"We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah"- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:- " (4.157)

And so to us, this man was crucified, not Jesus. Jesus was 'lifted up' as CR put it and is said to be with God till his time comes to come down again.

I do wonder where all the debate about the fate of Sayyidna 3isa is purely linguistic. "9alab" nowadays means hanging up the body after death as a public disgrace to the executed person, but is also related to the word for cross. Who knows what it really meant at that time?

9alab is the past tense
but in the sura it says 9alabooh meaning in the act of doing it

Exactly Crazy, 9alab is the past third person singular for "crucify" but also the verbal noun for hanging a body up after death.

This is the first time I hear that 9alab is also an act to hang if anyone has a qamoos please double check
