Anybody know what could be the new form of internet in the near future ... ?
and what speeds will we be looking at ? ...

I mean it was moving fast until we stopped on 1.5 MBPS and Satalite connections ...

Anything new to be expected ? ...

Anything new to be expected ? ...What are you talking about? Normal cable connection For "RoadRunner" service in the US has been 5MBps for a couple months now.

when OC is commercialised, we will all be on 40Gbit connections. So far all inter-ISP cabling is OC and its on sale to datacentres....

Sweden currently holds the world internet speed record at something like 46gbps which is enough to stream digitally to 100 cinemas at a time. Of course resedential users will probably never see this speed, because a backbone is needed that must be all the connections put together.....though i'd imagine if everyone had fiber optic cables we'd have one hell of an internet service :).

hehe...fiber optics will soon be used in computers as well, only thing slowing computers down is the cabling. Bill Gates is currently the only owner of a fiber computer, its hundreds of times faster because there's no latency between the devices. The reason they havn't been introduced into all computers is because the decoders cost so much....but look forward to it in the future, it will be the next computer revolution.
