I would be thankful if one of the Moderators can open a poll with the following question and options:

Would you switch to Nawras Tel once it launches its services?

- Yes
- No
- Not sure yet

Thanks... :)

Am not too keen about what Nawras has to offer... so far nothing declared... but it should be interesting... though for sure wont be rushing to change once their offers are out in the open...

probably

I don't have a sim with any company in oman (as if there's any yet :p) I know lots of people in Nawras and from what they told me I like it but will wait and see

whatever offers al-nawras provide.. i am going to switch for it..
Omantel it is the pay back time....

i heard that Al-nawras offers are going to be better. The sim card has better option.
Regarding the price, at the beginning it is going to be simillar to that of Omantel but later they are going to change.

anyway, in all cases i am switching from the first day the launch... i can convience all my friend to change… I am good in this

I heard that Nawras is only going to offer pay-as-you-go services and not line rentral contracts. For this reason, I do not think that I am going to switch.

I am not going to switch to Nawras. But, I might get another line from them.
I already registered with them, waiting for their updates. I will wait more to see what they can offer, & what could make them special.

The most important is the network traffic, I hope there would be no problem, like what is going on with the local operator.

Still undecided, I'm not connected to either Omantel or Nawras in the mean time, once I'm home I'll check what nawras has to offer and will decide.

Although we abroad faced massive problems with Omantel's network, I still feel very loyal to it, or I should say I'll feel a lil sad if the majority decided to change to Nawras :(

They're gonna have to be majorly different to make me move. Unlike most of you, I don't have any problems with Omantel. If Nawras offers something truly WOW that Omantel doesn't have, then I'll definitely consider switching. BUT, only if I can move my number. I have no interest in starting over with a new number.

Your wrong they'll have both

1) similar to 7ayak
2) one that u can use like a similar phone

there's another one but I can't remember

both pay as you go and the line will have all the options and from what I was told if you fill you sim with 5 rials then that 5 rials can be used for any service instead of just one

the pricing they'll start the same but it might change once they go independent but in the end there's a basic figure that they must charge

honestly I've had probs with Oman mobile so dunno

Nawras won't have thier signal all over (since they just started)

but the pay as you go will function same as UAE's where you can roam with it

I'm sure many wouldn't want to switch to Nawras due to the hastle of chaging numbers.. However, I heard moving numbers will be possible...:)

why feel sad my dear? Other countries have more than 3 mobile phone service providers, each has its own custormers and each thrives on its own way!

No need to feel sad, Omantel will still have its customers, and so will Nawras InshaAllah if they manage to attract people with their offers..

dont you think its good to support the new upcoming service provider?

yeah the number changing feature will be added at a later stage

competition will be good both will know they have to work hard to gain customers and that if a customer is unhappy he/she has the option to move to the other company

Like FaHad, I am planing to switch to Nawras and dump my Omantel sim:hbd:

I dont mind moving to Nawras if they are providing a better service and package than Omantel, and if moving my current number is possible.

Nice topic Bimzoori.. Though I still can't vote for my low posts.

I dont think you can transfer your number, thats why they made this new numbering plan, so it can fit all the numbers of the upcoming telecommunication companies. We still expecting new companies for internet & fixed lines.

By the way, dont mix up! Nawras will be a competitor for Oman Mobile, & not Omantel.

Blue_Chi
08-02-05, 04:47 PM
Nightface, in other places you can have your number moved from one competitor company to another, people "BUY" the numbers, so it is for them to use their number on their desired operator. If people can move their numbers to Nawras, I am sure that this is going to be a real big incentive to move from Omantel.

NiGhTFaCe
08-02-05, 05:43 PM
I am not sure if this case of moving numbers would work between Oman Mobile & Nawras.

What I know that the TRA made this new numbering plan, so it can handle the new numbers.

Lets wait, & see.

I think Bimzi and Princess should have a fight with those big padded "pugil-sticks" they used on that show "Gladiators", and stream it live over the internet. If Bimzi knocks Princess off her podium, all Sabla members have to switch to Nawras, and if Princess knocks Bimzi off, they have to stay with Omantel.

No Mimosa!!! In that case Omantel would win all sabla members  AP has won all physical fights against me ever since I was born... :weep: That would mean bad marketing for Nawras from my side...

I am definetly changing ...

even if I get a chasis number ...

People think of all the years Omantel was pushing us to do what they want ... the bad services ... the lies ... the whole nine yards ...

from what Im hearing that the price will be slightly higher than omantel ... but the services in the other hand WILL let you forget about the pricing ...

I am definetly moving ... too bad currently there is no competitor ISP for the *EDITED* ... but Im really considering 2 WAY SATALITE ... who cares about the 1000 rial equipment ...

*EDITED- no need for such comments*

As I said earlier, I might get a new line from them, & I would keep my current one which is with Oman Mobile.

Bimzoori, like I said it's too personal, when you're angry with the company you can't go around saying well $@#^@$% the company they scwered me over etc.. coz bascially you're telling your family they can't things straight, gets me into trouble..

But I can say that about Oman Mobile becuase franckly it's okay with oman mobile because i don't know anyone there.

PS: OMANTEL SUCKS! i went in there today, they're offices STINK! and they kept on telling me to go from one person to another.. WTF?!

IRONY
25-03-05, 02:04 AM
Well first of all unless i can have my number I would move..but then if i am the only one who moves into nawras then i see no difference in the tarrif becuase it's cheap to call nawras to nawras but if most of my family and friends have omanmobile what's the point?? Might as will stick to Omanmobile.

However I can't decide yet until I get home and see what nawras has to offer :)

Muscati
25-03-05, 10:27 AM
But even if everyone you know is on Oman Mobile you'd still be calling them at 39 baisas a minute while they pay 45 or 55 baisas to call each other. It's still cheaper with Nawras.

Arabian Princess
25-03-05, 11:06 AM
so then muscati, if omanmobile changed thier rates and made it cheaper, would you change back to Oman Mobile?!!!

Muscati
25-03-05, 11:46 AM
I haven't changed to Nawras. I'm still with Oman Mobile. I'm waiting a month or two. If my bills go up by a lot I'm gonna switch. Oman Mobile's decision to increase to the new tariff has got to rank among the stupidest corporate moves in the history of telecoms.

While everyone was b!tching about Oman Mobile, I never really had a problem with them. My problem has always been with Omantel with their bad service, horrible internet, lack of phone lines, etc. But Oman Mobile has generally been very good. Why the hell did they increase their prices? I asked 3 people I know who work there and not one of them had an answer. They all agreed it was a stupid decision. One of them even told me that 80% of mobile calls in Oman are made within a 20km radius, so the so-called price reduction only affects the 20% of people who call beyond 20km. For 80% of Oman Mobile users it is a price increase.

Stupid companies should not be allowed to survive. They can either fix their stupidity, or get wiped out.

if a company doesnt change its services to win its customers, then its a stupied company!!

Nawras changed its rental fee from 3.900 (and this .900 policy is so misleading) to 3 rials after oman mobile changed it. Now whos lowering thier prices to win

Some people argued that Nawras would make a revolution in the GSM services delivered to the Omani market. I said that it is all arranged among the two companies Omantel and Nawras.

Today I was a the City Centre, and I found the leaflet that promotes the new Nawras schemes.

If you look carefully you will find that the pre-paid GSM service (Omantel's Hayyak and Nawras) are both for 14 Rial Omani (28 US$) and both charge you the same for one minute call (39 Piza for both). So what should the competition be about? I said it before and I think it is totally correct, it is just that Omantel have a good agreement with Nawras about the rates and the services provided so don't be so rushing and wait for things to reveal more and more before you come to a shift from Omantel to Nawras!

dija, are you sure that you work for the Nawras, because you are not aware of their services. The internet service you are pointing to is Nawras Zone which an extra feature that comes with SIM card, so its not internet service, its an operator service.

People!! The prices in making calls would make that big difference. Its all about offering services!!

Nawras started their Prepaid services with Romaing, so Oman Mobile did the same thing, the Nawras has three services which are MMS, GPRS & EDGE, where Oman Mobile doesnt have the EDGE one, so this is a point for the Nawras to be ahead!

Nawras & Oman Mobile are the mobile operators, & Omantel has nothing to do with offering mobile services, so dont mix up!!

Omantel is the ISP in Oman, and not Oman Mobile, or Nawars in the future. To my knowledge, the "mobile" license won by Nawras doesn't include ISP priviliges, someone correct me if i'm wrong!

Arby even if they lowered it to 2 rial 999 bz

Yeh, the Nawras started after the DTC + Qtel + Omani businessmen won the way to be the 2nd mobile operator in Oman after Oman Mobile. They are running mobile services only! & not internet!

The TRA already gave the chance for other companies to be as ISPs. When they announce the new ISP, I will tell you how the things would work out in this case.
