I am a Vodafone user in UK, and I've noticed that for some reason SMSs to Oman do not get delivered and we also do not receive SMSs from Oman.

This problem has been on and off since vodafone allowed SMS's to Oman.

I wonder if it's a problem with the Vodafone network? or with OmanMobile? or in the connection between the two networks?

Any ideas?! :help:

I use vodafone too.. But in Ireland.. And its the only network here in Ireland that you can use to send msgs to Oman.

I assume it does, otherwise we would have had problems all the way through, as I've been using my vodafone network for sending & recieving msgs to and from Oman for the past 2/3 yrs and it was alright.

Though I remember we vodafone users had problems sending msgs 3/4 yrs ago for around a year, but things were fine after that.

One more thing: I used to access my vodafone sim pretty well in Oman, but I've just heard from someone who was trying to use the UK vodafone sim to send me msgs and it sadly didn't work :(

Maybe OmanMobile decided to boycott Vodafone?!.. we should question the origin of Vodafone now :3mani:

The problem is definetly between UK Vodafone and OmanMobile then!!

Same problem but with Telecom Italia Net:
sms from Italy to Oman and vice versa take hours sometimes to arrive, and the replies from Oman repeat themselves 3 or 4 times.
Maybe something wrong with Omantel while changing numbers.

No your right. I used to be able to send messages home using Voda, but ever since I got back I havent been able to...nor have I been able to receive messages. Please let me know whats up

I've got some interesting news here..

This is the message I got from a vodafone salesperson:
The problem must be from your country -Oman- and nothing can be done about it (typical salesperson attitude)!!, I will however try to send the head office an email to contact your country's head office.

News from Oman:
Because OmanMobile was going through a phase of number changing, it was required from all networks in agreement with OmanMobile to upgrade their system in order to operate the SMS messaging normally. Vodafone seems for some reason did not bother or take the effort to do that -just yet-!


So basically everyone throws the ball on the other to deal with the problem.
To me, the latter makes more sense and is a wee bit more promising!

I really hope this problem gets solved, it's annoying having to live without SMS to family and friends :cry:

well i know at least 1 message that didnt reach me, but everyone else sucks!

.. for the cheapest sms from the uk to oman.. use O2 .. then Orange .. then 3G .. Vodaphone rips u off in the middle of the day light .. 24p for a silly txt to Oman .. hell almost 200 omani pz !!

.. and if the txt was long... it will be sent in 3 parts.. so 3 x 24p = 72p .. thats 500 omani pz :Shock: .. very charming laah :6:

I had the same problem with receiving txt from UK (O2), when I called Oman mobile it fixed right way, its much better 2 contact Oman mobile specially these days whenever there is such fault either sending or receiving.

I dont think so..there are stil some txt i havent received them. Coz i have been told they have tried to txt me for about 2 weeks and i only received 24 txt last night ,which they were sent 5 days ago looking at the sent date.


Voda sucks big time nowadays....Got a nice deal with O2 300 free txts to any UK mobile,and only 3p a min calling Oman in weekends. And yeah its pay as you go not rental line.
