Hi guys,
I have a Laptop that has a S-Video Out port, and i have bought a S-VIdeo Cable. I connected my laptop to the tv,and i pressed the appropriate keys on my laptop so it switches the display to the extrenal TV set. The laptop screen got lank, but the TV remained unchanged!
I have tried this with 2 different TVs but the same happens.
Does anybody know whats wrong? Can something be wrong with the cable? Plz reply ASAP. What am i doing wrong? Hurry up.
Thanks :help: :help: :help:

I found these steps.. maybe if you follow them it would work:
1. Plug a standard 4-pin S-Video cable to the S-Video out jack on your notebook (yellow connector on the back panel). Plug the other end of the cable to the S-Video in jack on your television. Restart your notebook. Although your notebook has a 7-pin S-Video out jack, the notebook accepts either a 7-pin or 4-pin cable connection.
2. Select Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Themes > Display. Then, select the Settings tab > Advanced button > Display tab.
3. To enable the TV, select the red button next to TV. If the S-Video cable is not plugged into your notebook and TV, the red button will not be displayed.
4. Select Apply to accept the changes.
5. If you are prompted to restart Windows, select Yes.

As far as you are talking about laptop then It shuldn't be always on the display properties, sometimes it has an icon in the control pannel or in the Programs in the start menue. Also there is a possibilitiy that the display driver is not correctly installed, or should be configured, or your adapter (display) should use a lower Mode "Hertz" or resolution, because the TV is using a lower Hertz and resolution than the LCD, in your case, and PC monitor in Desktop case.
Some display cards supports dual display settings so that both your laptop and TV will have the same output. Both of them use the same Hertz and resolution as a default.
Also remember that you have to change your TV display out put to the proper output. Maybe your laptop shifts the output to your TV and keep your laptop blank. This is a small possibility if your display card doesn't support dual display.
Note: I have my PC at home connected to the TV. yes it took me long time to setup the various settings, but at the end I watched my movies on my TV and it was really fun and really deserved the effort.
