Are piercing ears, Nose and other soft parts of body permitted in Islam?

We see for hundred of years girls and in the modern era men also piercing ears, Nose and other soft parts of body is piercing permitted in Islam? :help:

well most of my aunts are pretty religious, and also my grandmother, they all have nose and ear pierces, i dont think its 7aram though... i mean i got my ears pierced when i was 8 months old!!!

i think belly and other pierces are permitted as long as they arent being shown off to guys...

I hate belly piercing, and all irregular piercings in general. It seems...pointless.

i dont think its haram, but it might just be discouraged - cos it might be seen as 'tashabbuh' as in, trying to be effeminate... like wearing silk and pure gold and silver for men is haram.

My mother and i have this argument about this all the time. She thinks its a sin to pierce my nose...but yet she has her ears pierced :think: . Also in the Bible it was talked about as being a beauty mark (nose ring)....BUT she still thinks its a sin :rolleyes:

I don't think that piercing is 7aram. All girls here in this part of the world get their ears pierced when their only 3 months old, plus a lot of the older women have nose pierces too!

lol I have two in my ears, and it was my mom who took me to get my second one. I dont think there's anything wrong with it, otherwise, you would've seen people objecting this whole issue.

i dont think piercing ear and nose for girls is haram ,,, case i have my ear piercing since am 5 months ,,, and omani ladies since long time ago as i know do have nose piercing ,,,

but for men ,,, i think its 7aram ,, cause its kind to imitate women ,,

this is as far as i know,,, and really would like to know if there is any thing in islam about this

First of all, it should be made clear that it is permissible for women only to pierce their ears as a form of enhancing their beauty. The proof of this permission is based on the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, when he prayed on the day of `Eid and came with Bilal, his Companion, he ordered the women to pay Zakah, and some of them took their earrings off and threw it (donated it) to the Prophet. (Reported in Bukhari)

As to the piercing of the nose, it isn't allowed for both sexes because it is a type of deformation to Allah’s creation.
