el7ilwa 22-11-04, 08:55 AM Any time Redy ;)
Haroundb 22-11-04, 09:07 AM just keep it in your mind, that if you use aggressive RAM cleaning, your system will take much more time to load programs.
The idea is to use it wisely!
Fast_HacKinG 22-11-04, 04:26 PM Exactly as what Hroundb said !!!
Blessed 22-11-04, 06:00 PM Let's say I go to my start up pragrams list (from msconfig) and do a good cleanup, and from time to time I also do a good clean up of unnecessary processes from my Windows Task Manager; do I really then need this program? What does it actually do besides these two things?
Blessed, Let me try:
RAM is Random Access Memory it means for a fast access when you start a program it's stored in this memory, so when tend to open it again it will be faster as you don't need to access it from the hard disk. Now if you didn't use a program for long time or stopped using it then it means RAM is full of unwanted stuff and at the same time you keep adding programs to your PC. This will result in overloadng the RAM, therefore it's recommended to do a clean up of unwanted stuff from RAM to free some space and I believe this is what the software suggested by EllE is doing. I hope I'm not wrong, otherwsie the experts here can correct me :)
Shinoda LP 23-11-04, 01:13 AM IceTea, the RAM never contains information of some program that you USED to use, but don't anymore. RAM updates itself with information of new programs that you use regularly, which saves the user a LOT of time. It does get flooded with programs that you never use, but haven't set up/configured properly though.
Blessed, from the looks of it you don't need this program.
Kamakazy 23-11-04, 08:31 AM doesnt the RAM clear itself when your computer is off or unplugged...???
Haroundb 23-11-04, 09:29 AM doesnt the RAM clear itself when your computer is off or unplugged...???
Yes, but we are talking about runtime, before it is turned off, like a forced clearing of the RAM while the pc is still running.
DeSerTDesTroYeR 23-11-04, 09:58 AM as kama.. said RAM does clear itself when restarted ...
The use of the program el7ilwa mentioned could be when, you are running a program or multi programs and its getting heavy..
release of ram would remove the idle data that is not being used by those programs..
It all depends also on how much Ram you have and the size of your virtual memory allocated.
Shinoda LP 23-11-04, 10:43 PM doesnt the RAM clear itself when your computer is off or unplugged...???
It does, but isn't there a chance of programs executing at boot-time to include a virtual page in the RAM?
Blessed 23-11-04, 11:13 PM Man I just checked my startup programs from msconfig, LOTS of junk! I'm glad I cleared that up.
Shinoda LP 23-11-04, 11:48 PM Man I just checked my startup programs from msconfig, LOTS of junk! I'm glad i cleared that up.
Yup, thats mostly what slows your boot-time down.
Fast_HacKinG 24-11-04, 12:45 AM I think the main function of this program as some of you mentioned is to clean up the RAM when multi-programs are running up and to avoid stuck or running slowly.
Professor 03-04-05, 04:44 AM well i dont like using dose kind of programs. They use cpu & memory resources. The program just moves the idle or crushed programs to the paging file(swap File) which is located in the hard disk so when u need to use that idle program u will have to wait for the system to load it from the harddisk.
the best thing is boot windows with less programs running in the back ground.
1. remove the unwanted programs that runs at startup ( i usually go to regedit and delete them if there is any :) and dont forget the ones in programs/startup)
2. disable the unwanted services in administrative tools .

I noticed alot of computers have spyware & adwares running in the background that will slow ur pc. if ur pc starts to act slow just open task manager and kill the unwanted programs. if that dosent solve ur problem then a simple reboot will help.
other than that i recommend getting more RAM if that dosnt help then get a new PC :)
if ur serious about improving the performance then tweak the ram & Pagefile. you can also overclock to gain same performance.
i could go on and on about how to tweak and overclock ur pc to make it run faster :) but i ll just post a link (i know im lazy), i think this site has some useful stuff for beginners (i didnt go throught it yet :) )
http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1590&page=1
there are some programs that dose most of windows registry tweaks that are mentioned on that site i think.
and if u still insist on using such programs to clean the ram then i think CachemanXP is a better program

Gunther 03-04-05, 06:52 PM Just buy more ram....with XP you should have at least 512MB
