We have Touched and talked much about High poverty in SAUDIA one of the Richest Country in the world.

Now my Question is:
- Do we have High Poverty in Oman
- Do we have Omanis living Below the Line
- Do we have Omanis Who can't afford More than one Meal a day?Looking forward for response and discussion..

Yes, to all the questions above.

Social security has been doing quite alright, but not good enough at all. Though now with the new ministry, there might be some major changes, as such issue would be one of the main reasons of why the ministry would of been established to my assumption.

What a Coincedence got an email Asking for Help for those really people in need see Below and perhaps People may like to Help and what a better time during Holy Month to gain more Rewards.

Please those who would like to contribute PM me I will give the contact of the focal points:

Sisters and brothers;
This is a pleas and an appeal for help of the needy.

My wife works as a social worker and school counselor for School Aisha bint Massod (evening session From 12:00 -17.00). The school has about 1,260 girl students mostly from Maabelah.

· She joined the school about a month a go. She has come across shocking cases of poverty and need.

· Total students requiring help 446. Total families 421 some girls are sisters.

· 9 families have virtually nothing, basically no food for the day.

· 7 Families have no proper roof over there heads – Broken cravens or old ruins

· Also in the area surrounding the school many families live in very poor conditions.

We have been in contact with various organizations to channel the efforts as well as establish how genuine each case. Of course this requires lots of effort but just to cover the rush period of Ramadan and Eid we are hoping to give each family about 30 Omani Rials worth of aid. In other words we need to raise close to 15,000 Omani Rials. So far we have not been successful and we raised only small portion of that.

Please act as a focal point and collect some money. Over all collections can be either passed to me in....

Focal points please pass the message to any one you wish.

Any one who wants to make contributions directly to the school or want to visit the school is welcome and need to liaise with me for contact numbers.

P.S

We have also a simple scheme supporting about 75 families in dakhliya mainly Nizwa.

Our future aspiration is to have a registered charity organization in so aid is coordinated with existing set-ups in the country. We have recently visited a well established charity and Zakat set-up for learning and they are doing excellent job we hope to learn from them. The comment we got back we need to promote such efforts and not only be dependant in one organization.

May Allah accept all your good deeds

Thanks,

The answer is yes to all your questions, but it's not that much common. With the government support of the needy and with some gentlemen's help like Bahwans, most Omanis are well-off people and can afford their daily meals.

Yes, there are many poverty stricken families even in Oman, but thank God the percentage is a lot lower than in other countries, plus the fact that people are generous and kind-hearted, would never refuse someone else any kind of help, which is a blessing :D... so hopefully this issue won't last long.

I used to think that we were very well off .. compared to others in the arab world.. but after hearing about so many situations and people who are actually living below the line and can barely afford anything.. i realized how naive i was..and just cause my family is well off ( mashallah and alhamdullilah ) doesnt mean that the rest are too.

so i guess the answer is yes to those questions u asked.
