It's been told in our islamic lessons that it is 7aram for women and men to pray jama3a together, unless they are family. eg. brothers, sisters father.. as in immediate family.. but what about the extended family praying jama3a? as this is what we do mostly in ramadhan after iftar. with men in front and women at the back.
can cousins pray together.. men and women? even though they are not ma7arim?

WOW!!! 7arammmmmm  okk well as far as I know its never 7aram when it comes to prayer...
who ever it is... related or not. If they are not praying then its cause its a mental or culture thing. But islamically its totally fineeeeeee. As you described its two different rows.

The house is not a mosque!
What is the reason that men don't go to pray "Jama3a" in the mosque?

Women cannot make women jamaat for pray. It is not allowed in sharah
Women can pray with men but they should not be in same row(saff). Mostly in mosque women pray in a separate place of same premises under hijaab. They follow man imam.
Even house is never be equivalent of Mosque but due to certain conditions when group of man missed their jamaat and they want to pray at home or other place of mosque then it is preferable to make a jamaat instead of praying alone.
In back row of male family members, women of same family can perform their prayers. (I personally did pray in back row of my brother when he missed his jamaat.)
(Allah(swt) knows better. )

We need to check if women allowed to stand in the 2nd raw after men because she said they are not ma7rams. In salat al istisqaa (rain prayer) women stand behind the kids. And here we are talking about Maghrib prayer which is "far'9".
Ofcourse this is just exceptional case (to pray at home for men) and shouldn't be a routine.

This issued is already discussed with some of Hanfi Scholars and the reply was same as mentioned above.
I again quote here “women cannot pray in Jammat. Even woman cannot do imaamat on any jamaat. Yes they can pray in a group gathering but that gathering never be equal to Jamat.
In so many places I have even read the statement that woman should pray in most inner corner of house. Ajar for this pray is equal to man’s Jamat prayer
I don’t know about other fiqaah but in Fiqa-e-Hanfi this is not allowed.
Further more I’ll post the query to Islamic Scholar’s websites and whenever I’ll get reply (either against of my lines or in favor of above lines) I’ll defiantly come to share here on the board.
Thanks and Regard

there is no 7adeeth in the book to back this up, but it does say that if it were women then it is allowed (yajooz) for the imam of women to be a woman herself..

Okay dear no problem.
Allah (swt) knows better that people they are following the above-mentioned Islamic books are unaware about truth and someone else misguides them so credit for this sin goes to creator of those books not the followers. (Allah knows better)
Now what is our duty being a Muslim, whatever you have read from the books try to seek the truth from authenticated books or scholars.
Here are some links you can post your queries directly and get the answer with appropriate hadeeth.

Salamz,
It is allowed for women to pray in mosques behind men. They should be far behind on the side. It is not 7aram, but it's preferable for a woman to pray at home than mosque.
A woman can be imam of women, but she doesn't stand in the front like how a male imam does, she stands in the same row between all the women in the first row & in the middle.

Guys stop... I see you worked as fatwa personnels...
As far as I know from Quran & Sunnah:
Ahmed Al-Khalili's statements.
- Women are permitted to pray any jama'h behined the Imam.
- Women should pray behind the men or a hijab should differ between the men & the women.
- Baloch_sis: You stated a fatwa from a wahabi.. do you mind giving us the fatwa so we can discuss it. Women in Masjid Al-haram in Mecca pray jammah with the Imam, dont they
