[2:62]
Surely, those who believe, those who are Jewish, the
Christians, and the converts; anyone who (1) believes in
GOD, and (2) believes in the Last Day, and (3) leads a
righteous life, will receive their recompense from their
Lord. They have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.

How would you explain the verses? :scratch:

I have a commentary saying that an explanation can be found in the arabic roots of the words:
Jew=hada = to be guided
Christians=nasara = to aid and and assist
Sabaeans=saba to turn toward
so people indicated in the verse might be ones with those charachteristics; is it possible?

Anybody out there can explain this verse?

Strictly speaking, we don't have the knowledge of understanding & explaining the Qur'an, but I came across the above verse sometime ago & I read its explanation.
In short, it was referred to those believers, the jews, the christians & those converts who lived in the period before islam & they followed their religion at that period of time when the religion was introduced. Those religions were the right religions during thier time, but not after islam was introduced. Wa'Allahu A3lam.
That verse is not applied to those who lived & are living during & after the religion of Islam came. The prophet Mohammad Salla'allahu alaihi wa sallam was the last prophet. The Qur'an is the last holy book, & the religion of Islam is the last religion. Anyone who follows any religion other than islam it will not be accepted from him/her According to Qur'an.

I apologise for my weak english, I used simple words & phrases. Hopefully everyone will get the message correctly.
Salam...
Perhaps this should be merged with the "IceTea Appreciation" thread, or relevant posts taken out of that into this one, as the same subject is being debated.
