Team Dubai for cars plans to participate in the 2006 F1 races. They are going to pay 48 million USD to make sure they get a place to participate. They have began negotiations with both Mercides and Mclaren to get mechanical help.
Originally they wanted to buy an exisiting company but thought It would be better to start a new company.

Actually this is interesting.
They have the money then why not invest it in something like formula one?

it would be really great to have an arabian based team. I wonder who would be the drivers though !

Though for the drivers, they are not hard to find. You know F1 drivers how they are transfering from team to another!

Yep. What i was wondring about is, will they be planniong to introduce new drivers form the region?
We already have a circuit in bahrain.
We will be having a team from this region.
What about the drivers?!

Yeh, I got what you meant. I think they will try catching up these well known drivers, if they got the money to start a team, so I dont think it would hard to pay for a driver.

For the middle east, I dont see any F1 driver, then if they would try building a base for a new drivers, so then this would take years & years. You should start with the Kart, F3, F2 to end up with the F1.

After football also this :eyes:
Evi, whom did they ask for mech help
About the drivers, usually a team hires the ones who bring more money in terms of sponsors(see japanese for example); definitely these don't need money so it's a good chance to bring fresh blood as drivers.

Amo, they asked mclaren and mercedes. They believe they can do a much better job with these toys than the current one is. As if they are doing great

Plans for an all-new formula one team backed by Dubai's ruling Al Maktoum family have been strengthened with the announcement that a high-level collaboration with McLaren-Mercedes is being negotiated.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation and a key backer of the team, said: "Dubai is committed to developing and supporting world-class expertise in carefully targeted high-technology industries. Formula one, with its focus on technological and engineering innovation, provides the perfect environment in which to develop and demonstrate our skills in these cutting-edge areas."

The news that the Dubai consortium has decided to start from scratch rather than buy an existing team will disappoint Eddie Jordan, who has made it no secret that his Silverstone-based team are for sale. He had been in contact with the Al Maktoums and is also understood to be in negotiations with Christian Horner, the owner of the Arden formula 3000 team for whom Vitantonio Liuzzi won the 2004 international championship.

There are great drivers in the middle east if we are going to talk about the rally! But, not for the F1. Here none of the Arabs went for the F1, they are just doing the Kart, & they are not professionals.

I believe they will hire a well known driver. The money speaks! ;)

This what I am saying! To the F1, you should start with the Kart, & here it needs years & years, so the driver can be really developed good!

Did you know that he won the Mercedes Benz competition for the Middle East, where he would be there in Germany at Mercedes Benz factory learning some stuff.

Anyways, back to the topic. Guys, dont mix up between typical drivers, & F1 drivers. Its something different. It takes years before going through this part of the automotor sports.

If the company would take time to develop the team including the drivers, so then theres a chance of building a good base. But, I still think they would put money for some well known drivers.

I know Mbarak Al-Hajri, & he is well known for his driving skills. Here if he is not doing F1, so then he is a typical driver, because F1 is something that totally different. Just imagine your self with that small vehicle, putting yourself in unordinary position trying to speed up to 300 km/h.
