.. while i was in the hospital waiting for someone to get checked by the doc., those 3 "omani" guys came in wearing "flamming-design" jeans and T-shirts.. most of the ppl there gave them the wierd look "me too lol" coz all the humans there were wearing the omani outfit and those gus looked like a dark spot on a plain white sheet..
..anyways.. i felt that there is something will happen that made those guys the "laugh of the day"..
..an old man was holding his grandchild while the child was drinking some drink "suntop" .. the kid droped his drink and spilled some on the floor.. the poor old man pointed to one of those guys sayin : rafeej "indian", come and cleen this!!.. he thought those guys are some cleaners in the hospital..
.. i could feel the shame that guy got when his face turned red of what just the old man told him..
..the point is.. i wonder why do some youth degrade themselves by practicing or doing some acts that dont make sense or not acceptable in our community??!!
..it's d@mn burning out there and they wear jeans!!.. what kind of brain have they got!!

Now I know why most Omanis I know are 'programmed' to think alike! :D A 'lil bit of change or use of personal discretion leads to being socially out-lawed!
To be honest I don't see anything wrong with a guy wearing a nice pair or jeans and a smart shirt, even to a hospital. He may look outta place and a dishdasha might look more 'sha'79iya' (I don't know how to translate that...help someone) but it won't be something that'll make me stare or even b!tch about. Having said that, I think it's important for ppl to dress appropriately wherever they go. Wearing jeans to a hospital may not exactly be appropriate but I wouldn't consider it inappropriate either.
As I understood they were wearing Flaming designed jeans which in my opinion is not suitable to wear at a hospital.. anyways I always prefer guys with dishdasha ;)
The problem is some of them try to act as those cool westers (well they think they are cool) and go wear things that don't suit them at all.

no the problem is most omani guys don't know how to put a pair of jeans and t-shirt. and i think its more appropriate to wear dishdasha, but that is my opinion :D

u r 100% right.. it's up to them what they wear or not.. i wouldnt mind even if they want to walk nacked in hospital or other places.. i wouldnt get headache.. maybe i would laugh :duck:
.. the point is, u have to value the place u r goin to and most important is to value ur original things.. why i would degrade and put myself in a situation that doesnt even worth a glance at it..
..i have a wide range of choices that keep us respected among the public..why we should go for the narrow range that put us in a contempt situations..

lol @ blossom
I personally REALLY hate this one track mentality. What is wrong with wearing a pair of jeans in oman? just cause the national dress code is a dishdasha doesnt mean that it has to be compulsory. anyone should be able to wear whatever he/she wants and the shame should be on that old man for judging a person based on what he wears. now thats the brain that i would question.

...just cause the national dress code is a dishdasha doesnt mean that it has to be compulsory.
.. it's not abt compulsory and a "must" thing.. but it's abt "makin sense" and "respect" in the same time..
.. i woudnt mind a guy works in a shop or somethin like that wearin jeans for example coz thats easier for him to move around and thats makes sense coz...
. walkin by the sea for example wearin jeans is cool.. thats make sense too.. coz u dont need ur dishdashah gets dirty or wet..
so when the situation makes ur outfit sensible then it's acceptable..
...and the shame should be on that old man for judging a person based on what he wears. now thats the brain that i would question.
LOL :gap: .. thats really made me laugh Nabhan.. i guess u havent mixed with "old guys" yet..
cheeers:)
Nabhan there is nothing wrong to wear jeans in Oman, its just that as Blossom said some just don't know how to do it properly and in decent way. You should see the way they dress up... I mean what the hell were they thinking :D
It's shame to see Omani guys and girls following the western dress code, they should be loyal to their identity.

I don't know why I can't stand people who keep poking into people's life.
Whats wrong with wearing western dress, so long is decent whats the big deal.
Does wearing Abaya or Dishdasha makes someone better than the other, what counts is your behaviour. I'm not against wearing Dishdasha or Abaya but in some occassion/proffesion they don't fit at all.

LOL, HH!
I'd just have the "whatever, loser!" look on my face if I run into some close-minded nitwit on my way ... guess you should follow that example too! ;)
My bro is one of those guys that you are talking about. I don't see it as a big deal ,but i do understand your point of view.

lol. I'll bet they were wearing na3al too. They wanted 2 make a fashion statement & they got 1 from the old fart.
Hmm... outside of the office, weddings and funerals (those formal social places) I don't see anything wrong with wearing pants!
