Well Blossom was asking me about this prayer and I promised her to start a thread on it:

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If any one among you has any kind of need, be of Allah or of a human being, let him perform wudu' (ablution) and offer two rak`ahs (prayer units). Then he should praise Allah, invoke His blessings on the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and say the following du`a' (supplication):

La ilaha illa Allahu-Haleemu lkareem. Subhana Allahi rabi el-`arshil `azeem. Al-Hamdulilahi rabbi il-`Alameen. As'aluka mujibati rahmatika, wa `aza'ima maghfiratika, wal-`ismata min kuli dhanb, wal ghaneemata min kuli birr, was-salamata min kuli ithm. La tada` li dhanban illa ghafartahu, wala hamman illa farajtahu, wala hajatan hiya laka ridan illa qadaytaha ya arhama ar-rahimeen.

(There is no god but Allah, the Ever-Clement, the Most Generous. I celebrate the Glory of Allah, the Lord of the Magnificent Throne. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. I beseech you, seeking that which will draw me closer to Your mercy, and that which will make certain for me Your Forgiveness. O Allah, grant me protection against any sin, and a share of every virtue. Do not leave me a sin without forgiving it, a worry without relieving me of it, or a need that meets with Your pleasure without providing for it, O Most Merciful Lord.)

~The number of rak3a's to be performed before saying the du3a is something the scholars (even in the hanafi school itself) disagree on. Some say 2, some 4 and some even say 12.

~The prayer is to be performed when the muslim is in NEED of something or other.

Prophet Mohammed PBUH said: ‘He who makes wudu’, and does it properly, then prays two rak`ahs, Allah will grant him whatever he may pray for, sooner or later.’"

I would just like to add something; remember that it is not a prayer to be used for any small need. A muslim should try his best to do what he can on his own before asking Allah SWT (example; money). Its not to be over used either. And you should remember that if your wish is not granted, then it is Allah's will; as He knows what's best for you.

Blossom what I know is that if the ayah (verse) has a du3a in it then its ja2iz to say it during sujood. Other than that I don't think so...

Sophis, its common sense and you'll hear it everytime you read/hear about salatul haja. Notice scholars only prescribe it when the person is really desperate & helpless.

Thanks Enigma for opening this thread and it is actually very coincidental, as a good friend of mine was talking to me about it yesterday.

However, unless I got it wrong, she told me to do something different than what you post above and these prayers are somehow equal to the Isikharah Supplication.

She told me to do full abulation, perform 'wudu' and to recite then the following:

1) Surat "Ash Shams" (click here) (http://quran.al-islam.com/GenGifImages/Normal/290X330-0/91/1/1.png) (7 times)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

[1] By the Sun and its (glorious) splendour;

[2] By the Moon as it follows (the Sun);

[3] By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory;

[4] By the Night as it conceals it;

[5] By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure;

[6] By the Earth and its (wide) expanse;

[7] By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it;

[8] And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;

[9] Truly he succeeds that purifies it,

[10] And he fails that corrupts it!

[11] The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing.

[12] Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety).

[13] But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!"

[14] Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)!

[15] And for Him is no fear of its consequences.

2) Surat "Al Lail" (click here) (http://quran.al-islam.com/GenGifImages/Normal/290X330-0/92/1/1.png) (7 times)

[1] By the Night as it conceals (the light);

[2] By the Day as it appears in glory;

[3] By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;

[4] Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse.

[5] So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah),

[6] And (in all sincerity) testifies to the Best,

[7] We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss.

[8] But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient,

[9] And gives the lie to the Best,

[10] We will indeed make smooth for him the Path to Misery;

[11] Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit).

[12] Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide,

[13] And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning.

[14] Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely;

[15] None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones

[16] Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs.

[17] But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,

[18] Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification,

[19] And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return,

[20] But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High;

[21] And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction.

3) Surat "At Tin" (click here) (http://quran.al-islam.com/GenGifImages/Normal/290X330-0/95/1/1.png) (7 times)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

[1] By the Fig and the Olive,

[2] And the Mount of Sinai,

[3] And this City of security,

[4] We have indeed created man in the best of moulds,

[5] Then do We abase him (to be) the lowest of the low,

[6] Except such as believe and do righteous deeds: for they shall have a reward unfailing.

[7] Then what can, after this, contradict thee, as to the Judgment (to come)?

[8] Is not Allah the wisest of Judges?

~ Followed by a du'a, (which I wrote with my own transliteration).

My question is: Is this correct and is this something different than Salatul Haja?

The below alkhalili fatwa is related to this topic he says that this prayer not in the sunnah unlike Istikhara prayer. But if a person has a need he can ask Allah after the prayer by "du3a".
