Taxi drivers..I call them the Road Masters and The Road Kings!
dont ever think to hit a taxi car ever or u will suffer !!!

Most of them know nothing about proper driving, I'm sorry to say that, but it's the truth.

They pay no attention to other drivers, they drive as if the road is theirs, and everyone else should know that, they would turn or stop all of a sudden just to pick up someone, and they nearly hit me so many times!

I'm really serious about this. I mean sure, some are good, but the overall idea about the male taxi drivers is what I said, and I'm sure most would agree with me.

I think that they need to be more strict about this here. It needs to be better organized and they should really train their people well before giving them a car and making them in charge of people's lives.

And why you drive behind them, you know they are working in the road so it's the source of their living. So I think we should help them by staying away from their way, do you agree?

Ice t, taxi drivers are everywhere, and even if you choose to stay away from them, they would eventually get in your way. And if they really take it seriously as a living income, they should take it seriously as well that they are responsible for people's lives, having fun on the road and ignoring all traffic rules just shows how much they really appreciate their living income doesn't it?

dr n I don't make jokes in serious topic, you should now me by now ;).

I know they are everywhere (here you brought a good point, which will raise a question see below**) and I'm not defending them but we are trying here to improve the suitation and avoide car accidents. So if we say it's their mistake and we don't do anything from our side we will end up making more accidents. I think they are serious about people lives coz no one want to kill anyone by intention. That is why we should drive defensively and avoide taxis as much as possible, for example we should keep distance between our cars and theirs to be safe in case they break to stop for someone, avoide driving behind them (same as avoide driving behind women and Indians coz they are very slow and could lead to accidents, no offense) and other measures.

Questions for discussion:

** what do we have many taxi drivers in Oman, what does the huge number of taxis in the road tell us about the suitation of Omani's? do we really need all those taxis compared to Oman population?

many male taxi drivers are perverts. just the day b4 yesterday i was in the taxi with my bro and a female friend and the idiot adjusted the mirror just to check her out. :duh: , i gave him a bloody peice of my mind ..thats for sure.

when it comes to driving i cant deny that as thug said they are 'masters'. they really know their way.. even if it wasnt done the right way.

Last time I heard, they haven't appointed me in charge of changing the driving techniques of our taxi drivers.:rolleyes:

Its' not my job to take an action, it's the governments job to try and fix this situation and like I said, train those people and teach them the basic things like using their indicators before they turn for God's sake!

dr n two wrongs won't make right, so if you know they are doing something wrong and you know that the road is their source of living unlike you sitting in an cool office, then why you don't take a postive action and be proactive to help in reducing the road risks for your sake and others in the road.

Ice t, first of all, I don't work, so I'm not sitting all day in an office.

Second of all, I'm not doing anything wrong, like thug said, there's no way you can stay away from them, they're just everywhere, and it's their responsibilty to be a bit more mature about their jobs that earn them their living, just now I saw one of those mini taxi buses driving so fast and was taking over just to get to the slow road to get to the round about, how mature is that?!!

I know you are not doing something wrong practicaly but your attitude toward the suitation is suspected. It's our duty to correct and help others who are doing mistakes or deviate from the rules. If each person will just say as you say "I'mnot doing anything wrong" then we are not going to move forward one inch. Let us move on from the blaming culture attitude and do something about it we are not at a court now to say I'm doing wrong or not doing wrong.

Let us look at the suitation you said that the taxi driver was driving fast to take over to reach to the round about. Do you know why he is driving fast coz people driving on the right side didn't give him a chance to enter before coming close to the round about. That is the kind of the things we should do to help those people who are making their livings from the road.

As Thugy said it's not approperiate to talk about your Omani brothers in such a way, if your brother is a taxi driver would you say the same thing.
