O Great Creator,
I come before you in humble manner
and offer you this sacred prayer
With tears in my eyes and an ancient song from my heart
I pray.
To the four powers of Creation,
To the Grandfather Sun,
To the Grandmother Moon,
To the Mother Earth,
And to my ancestors.
I pray for my relations in Nature,
All those who walk, crawl, fly, and swim,
Seen and unseen,
To the good spirits that exist in every part of Creation.
I also pray for peace among the four races of humankind.
May there be good health and healing for this Earth,
May there be Beauty above me,
May there be Beauty below me,
May there be Beauty in me,
May there be Beauty all around me.
I ask that this world be filled with Peace, Love, and Beauty.
.... Beautiful!!
So what's the question?

Always loved their culture and history.
Here's another dedicated to the Great Spirit ( Wakan Tanka )
Oh Great Spirit
whose breath gives life to all the world..
Hear me, am small and weak...
i need your strength and wisdom...
Teach me the lessons you have hidden...
under every leaf and rock...
Give me the strength not to be greater than my brother
but to fight my greatest enemy, myself...
Let me walk in beauty and ever behold the red and purple sunset
And when the setting sunset fades...
may i come to you with clean hands, straight eyes and no shame

LOL. There has to be a question. Try a sharing of a religion and belief not yours. These are the people "doomed to ****ation".

This odd phrase makes me wonder just how recent this prayer really is.
"Four races of humankind" sounds very 18th century European.
Perhaps the "Linnaean four-race system" proposed in "the Systema Naturae of 1758" ?

LOL. I'm not sure. I'll have to ask. It is recent.

There is a Native American prayer of hope I liked that was distributed to cancer patients back when I had ties to a local hospital. I've looked all over for it based on those words I could recall but haven't found it on the internet - yet.
The image it created in my mind was of a dying person holding their fist to the heavens and declaring "I Am !"

Is this religion Monotheistic? If not, perhaps it should be moved from this section.

Always thought the Native's believed in spirits and that sort of stuff as a religion. Moved.

In July, I'm going to a Powwow in Northern Montana/Southern Canada. I'll sit down with the Shaman and ask him pertinent questions.
But Great Spirit is God. Native religion is clear on that. There are other deities, but there is only one Great Spirit that encompasses them all, and they all bow to Him only.

I've always felt Native American religion closely related to my own.
