Well, which operating system do you have now? Windows 2000? windows 98?
And are those Harddisks C and D; are they actually two harddisks or two partitions?
------------------------------
To install windows XP on your PC...if it holds the minimum requirements just needs to insert the CD and reboot. Cause the CD is actually bootable and will start your installation step by step.
Before it goes into installing winXP. It will provide you with a section that you can in it delete partitions or add new ones.
In there you can identify the ones avaliable and combine them, that will be by just deleting them. And creating a new one which will take the default full harddisk size (this is on the assumption that you are having two partitions on one harddisk)
It should be with steps from there. Quite straight forward. If you arent sure, maybe you can get a friend who did this before assist you. If none, then am sure we can come up with a list of things to note down and you can print that and use it as a guideline before you start the whole process.

Get a hold of the FDISK utility. You can format the drive and create a single partition using FDISK. Be sure to also have a bootable floppy handy that will load the cd drivers, etc. Once you do this, just throw in the cd and run setup.
