everytime i wake up, i see myself as a struggle between the goodness inside me and the temptations of this world. i try so hard to follow the true path, and to do good but i always end up making the same mistakes...falling into the same traps. And like everytime I hear a islamic lecture, I can't help but be troubled by the it at times. I often think they're about me. It's astonishing.

I went to this lecture today and the lecturer told us to ask for god's forgiveness. Whatever problems we had in this life or whatever sins we had committed....he told us that god would forgive us. And all we had to do was to ask him for help. I feel awkward sometimes asking Allah (swt) to forgive my mistake that I have repeated 5 times already. Once I read this beautiful hadith where this person sins and he prays and asks Allah to forgive him and Allah says, my servant has sinned and he knows that it's Allah that forgives his sins and punishes for them. And he sins again and prays.. and Allah says the same thing and adds... do what you wish for I have forgiven you. I guess we just have to realize how merciful Allah is.

Shame is a characteristic that the sinner is very well aware of. It is troubling, and it is always there...reminding you of your actions, like unending hills of jade...swelling and dipping into the horizon. It is almost absolute. Sometimes we do good things and forget about them and sometimes we do bad things, except we don't forget them.

why do we all go through struggles when we know what we are doing is wrong and we know what to do to make it right, but we still fall into temptation?

I'm feeling a more religious direction with this thread, perhaps to Islamic Sabla? Kaza you okay with that?

i think we struggle bcoz of the education given to us while we were being raised by our parents...
they always taught us...whats right & whats wrong...

but me i do many bad things...and im enjoying myself...lately i was planning to ask forgiveness, but then changed my mind...

Life's temptations are sometimes irrisistible. I personally try my best to avoid falling for these seductive temptations, unfortunately most of my tries are a failure. But this time I'm determined to stay on the right path. I really need to strengthen my faith. You never know when you're going to die.

I read it somewhere and found it inspiring so thought of sharing with u .... Once the ego is overcome peace follows. "Only God and no living creature has the power to control destinies." With that conviction entrust all your cares to the Lord and follow the path of the Truth, conforming to the divine edicts, until you attain union with Him and become as pure as Adam before whom all creatures prostrated. -Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jillani, "Fayuz E Yazdani"

That's why I never go for any such Lectures Kaza... God I hate such relegious lectures.

Well, it depends on you... But I just hate it...

And yeah I'm never ashamed of whatever I do, because I don't do things without thinking a 100 times would it be ethical or unethical to do them... So never ashamed wallah...

I don't do wrongs and keep on begging for forgiveness because I can't play with god, and I never do that. If I did anything wrong, I just did it, and will face it from him later when I die... simple as that!!!

Kaza, it is normal that we all go through such struggles and our Faith is always tested.

If we know something is wrong and yet we still choose to fall into temptation, it is because we are under the strong influence of Iblis. He doesn't want us to do what is right and he wants to gather as many people on is side, that is is mission on earth.

We have to be really strong to resist him and to decide to follow always the right path. However, Allah knows that we are human after all and have our weakness. The difference is that there are some weaknesses that are forgivable and others that are not. We should still set a certain limit to our temptation, not to fall completly on the wrong side.

thats very normal what you are going through and admitting it means you have an alive heart that is ready to change.

We are humans .. and we are prone to follow our temptations .. this is why it is considered a Jehad to stop yourself from going through them !

we should always have faith in Allah and that he is leading us to the right path even if we temprorary went a bit away from it .. having that active heart would slowly lead you to the right path inshallah .. maybe without u realising!!!

Just have strong faith, and continue prayin to Allah to lead you to the right path!
