There is a small problem...

I just want to know if you have a similar problem as I do..

CAN YOU SMS TO OMAN VIA YOUR MOBILE?

My service provider is Vodafone and I didn't manage to SMS anyone back home(Oman)...

So are you experiencing same-thing? If YES, someone needs to infrom Omantel because this is really bad service to be honest!!!!

i can confirm that to u that i have no problem coz i just sent a sms to my brother and he replied to me.. im usin Vodafone too..

there is a service offered by O2 .. u can send txt to Oman just for 10p per txt ...

Are you using Vodafone Pas As You Talk or do you have a contract? I used to have a problem sending SMS to Oman with my Voda PAYT but then it turned out that there's a bunch of Voda numbers that won't go to Oman. I changed my number and now I have a 07766 number and SMS goes to Oman fine. I can't remember what number used to begin with, but all numbers which began with that code have problems.

Omantel........don’t worry very soon the will go to the scrap yard! I think by the end of August!

Oh really..I have to talk to this crap Vodafone again..they are getting worse these days looks like!!

I tried sending an SMS a couple of days ago but it wouldn't go through. My friend's been having the same problem. We're both with Vodafone. Neither of us was also able to use our phones in Oman when we were there a few days ago but we've always been able to. There's definitely a problem with Omantel.

The problem started since 8th April i tried to contact my network providers, and sai dthat the problem is with Omantel. I hope its gona be solved soon.

I'm having a contract with them and its been almost three years now with same no. and same company. I was sending fine to Oman before easter but then when I came back..I could not!

I'll re-talk to Vodafone again and see wats up!

My no. starts with 077869#####, do you think this is one of them? :scary:

yep omantel is the prob...cuz i get sms here from enlang..plus when i was in oman two weekes ago , i had some sms problems and ID call problems too :S ... they reallly should expand their network very soon be4 pple start to hate it more and then when a new company launches omantel would be gone !!!

I have talked with Vodafone helpline and it seems they got some complaints already but to my suprise she told me that they knew they have a problem since the 22nd of April and I have been having this problem since two weeks back:Shock:

Vodafone used to not be able to send SMSs to Oman, but had the problem solved sometime last year, but some numbers still don't work though, I had a problem with mine earlier, but I got a new number now and it works fine.

My previous number started with 07919 and it didn't work for Oman, my current number starts with 07887 and it works fine.

I know that Orange works fine as well.

sorry mate i just noticed ur question abt O2 ... :blush: :shy: .. really sorry.

anywayz... u have to get an pay as u talk card from O2 and ask them for 'call abroad' system (dont forget that) ... tyhen u have to call 4 digits number in the back of the card they gaive u to register the card.. then they will send u a txt message sayin that it's confirmed.

I didn't have any problem with SMS before I went for my Easter holiday..I discovered that when I came back.

I might have to get another contract for better offers.

Its alright tommy..thanx for the info. i may enquire about it tomorrow and look into their offers in town centre;)

its not Omantel .. coz I can send international messages and receive them too.

Plus, my cousin was there in the UK and she told me that other service providers have sms to Oman. So, its vodaphone not Omantel!

its not just vodafone...even orange and O2 .....international sms can't get through.

Bloom, to my understanding its a problem with Voda Phone only!

This is really strange thing..because there are some ppl who have vodafone and can SMS and others like myself cannot..whats worse is; I use to do it just before the past twe weeks and now cannot.

I think vodafone is the problem, probably they cannot handle this large number of customers!!!!

I guess the problem is solved, i started to receive and send SMS, this afternoon. :)

no its not i got friends who are using orange and got the same problems. i have a vodfone but i have no problem at all.

I think it was Vodafone problem Blossom..b'caz mine was fixed yesterday.

I have 2 simcard and Vodaphone is only used for Oman but about 2 weeks now have not been able to send messages to Oman could only receive I will try to see if it works now. I was about to throw my phone away nah I was blaming Omantel lol

Strange but true........

I have been sending SMS to her Oman mobile though she was in Saudia - she was able to receive and reply too.

Now she is back home(Oman) since yesterday, she can receive but cant reply so whats the problem now, it cant be Vodaphone really.

Does anyone know whats the best network to communicate with Oman?

Since you are here in UK..I suggest you bugg vodafone and I think it has to do with even she can receive and cannot send!

After all...calling 191 is a FREE vodafone helpline so make use of it.

if u r talking abt txting then try O2 ..plz check my previous post in this thread...

if abt calling... personally i use cards from website called www.eurocallingcards.com ,u have to register with them for free so u have an account... then u can choose the cheapest card with more minutes to talk... personally i use globle apple card ( 130 minutes for £12.95) .. u pay online.
