i bet when nokia invented the camera mobiles they didn't know that there gonna be ppl who will misuse them. i am sure everybody heard the story about this guy who disguised himself as a woman and went to this wedding and took pictures of the females guests.....thank to allah they security caught him before he got away.
i think thsese should be banned.

they can't do that with a normal camera?
Everything can be misused....you gotta live with it.

Here in the civilized world I have never heared any of these stories....so blame the people...dont blame the technology

I agree with Qais!!

I mean everything in this world could be misused .. camera phones are useful ..

Their exisit cameras which are much more smaller than the ones inthe phones. Also some look like simple pencils!

If someone does want to misuse a thing he/she can do it by any means.

As said above, blame the people but not the technology!

I wouldn't call for a ban on camera phones because some guys took pictures of females on a wedding night.

But, my friends take pictures of notes (formulae and such) and use it in classes.

Camera phones have to banned while taking tests and such.

There should be a law about privacy to limit its use, i guess with the advanced technology many countries will think about it.

i am not blaming the technology , but i still insist that they should be banned until ppl learn how to use it in a good way. or at least some rules should be made aginst using these phones.

and do u think ppl will learn to follow the rules if they were implemented? I don't think so

I have a camera phone but i don't misuse it in anyway. As said above, blame the people not the technology.

Anyone with a sick mind will do sick things with a camera phone or any other technology :irk:

If you ban it, people wouldnt learn how to use it, they would just follow other means to do what they want to do.

Anything really can be misused from computers , phones.. to sattelite tv. so banning such things is not the solution really. maybe educating people.. the right way.. and spreading moral awareness would do the trick ( lol .. who am i kidding ).

I usually transfer photos to the computer and delete the ones in the phone ..

So, what if the camera was stolen?? it will have a film with all the pictures!!

its the same!

Blossom

princess its much easier to lose a phone than to lose a camera, or so i think. 1st of all you don't you carry cameras with you 24/7, like phones...the possibility of losing a phone is much more higher.

ppl woukd still get cameras // trust me
Ive been to weddingsd where they didnt like ppl to take photos and even if we did they ask us to take it in a corner or something!!

Its useless anyway banning camera's from phones .. thats all I can say cuz if someone want to do something or insits on doing something they will do it one way or the other...!

Cam phones have been around almost two years now and I still haven't found a need to own one yet. Maybe when they finally make a 2 or 3 megapixel cam phone I will finally buy one.

Do you know that it costs phone manufacturers less than $5 to add a camera to a phone? Think of that next time you pay extra for a phone with a camera in it.

as long as I like the phone and its useful I dont care ;)

Blosom, I lost a camera once, and didnt yet lose a phone (alhamdulilah :yikes: ) .. it happens, wether you want it or not .. so, until now I didnt find a convincing reason to ban cameras!! :D

Name one gadget, just like a camera phone that has been banned.

Secondly, I'd consider losing my wallet, credit cards, palm pilot, laptop, cheque book a topic of more pressing importance than losing my camera phone with my picture in it! :duh:

That might be very soon coz Nokia is about to launch a new camera phone with 1 mega pixel. In addition Sony Ericsson is also releasing another with 1.3 mega pixel.

i got this e-mail saying that even when you delete all the pics from your phone, there is a way you can restore them. so imagine selling you phone and your pics ending in a stranger's Possession? all i am saying that ppl should be careful.

what they started doing here that i noticed in weddings, is that they put the censor alram door that if a lady has a camera fone , the securitys keep the fone with them and give her a no.( like in a hospital) that she can get her phone back later on when she leaves, so that nobody misuses the camera fone and reveal girls who are muhajabat

Yes, its true

There is a software that can restore previously deleted images!

Best way to completely delete pics/images is to re-format the phone (if possible)

OOh with the invention of the bluetooth as well
and people that are ignorantly leaving it open

another stage of invading people'e privacy reached!!!

If one particular region isn't fit to be technologically advanced, then such products shouldn't be released at all. I wouldn't buy a PDA if I wasn't interested in the first place, to explore and exploit all its capabilities.

indeed. Some leave bluetooth enabled or ON.. and if they anyone else is near by can simply get to see what they have.

Along with their mobile number if it was enabled as well.

One of the guys I know was sitting in City Centre StarBucks, he was too happy :duh: cause someone who was also there left their bluetooth ON and he managed to get from them some videos and images! which is for sure private.

I think its really recommended for anyone who buys new technology to read about it and check the manual of the phone they get to know how to set it up according to their linking. Not just leave it to its default. :shoot:

Big companies like Nokia really wants to sell there products with all possible means. This is why Nokia (as an example) invented this camera, to give people the chance to record "Moments" which they should not miss!!!!

I think that it was invented mainly for countries which people have no problem with women show parts of their bodies. But for us it is a big problem for women to show any thing.

For example wearing bikini at the beach, I don't think that a woman who wears a bikini will have a problem that someone take a photo of her with a phone cam or TV show and put it on the Internet!

For us as Muslims and as Arabs, we actually don't accept the idea that someone can even look at our mothers, wife, sisters or daughters; even if they are covering all their bodies!

What about someone who will open the internet and see his mother, wife , sister or daughter on a website that accepts posts from people as a "Who do you love?" or "What is your best shot?" or "what is the most beautiful woman you have seen?".

Don't forget that with the advanced computer technologies you can put any woman's face to any other woman's body using very skillful programs like Adobe Photoshop to enhance these pictures to the limit that it can fool even the professionals!

For me it is dangerous to carry phone cams, as carrying guns on the street to "shoot" someone. yes it is true that you can kill someone with your phone cam!

I totally agree with you and support you on this.

I know ppl can misuse anything .. but how long its been, since we had cameras!... i've never heard or seen such bizarre stories as I've heard and seen now done via camPhones!!!!

They went too far this time ..i still cant get over the Clip of the rape of Saudi gurl i know i was too stupid to actually watch it... it got to me ..Now am even worried about attending my own family weddings! how would I know what kind of freaks would be roaming around waiting for the moment to video you and Next thing you see yourself on the internet!!!

seriously its scary ..Videos or pictures taken by camphones spreading too fast and mashallah with the help of internet its going all the way ...

I say Ban it , but who listens anyway :( !

Thug, put yourself in a girl's shoes. I really never felt this was a problem because they didnt spread untill I was in the states. But now that I'm here I REALLY REALLY HATE IT. Stupid guys are always holding up their bloody cameras to our face and snapping. Pisses me off!

Banning might not be a solution but there should be some kinda rule on taking them in shopping centers. :irk:

Let's be serious please: though i agree there might be some law about privacy, our government tried but difficult to find exact terms and conditions, actually the real problem is of international security infact last time before coming my police adviced not to bring cam phone cause would have caused me problems in specially in ME but nothing happened : they saw at the airport and said nothing.
Back to the cam mob fear, is just when something new comes out, am sure it will pass soon, and actually there some non mob cams so small and sophisticated that if you're scared of being shot, well you won't even realise.
As MPac says, is the individual as always the makes the difference, not technology.
