"With its historical roots in the Jewish and Christian traditions, Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion -- that is, a religion that keeps an open mind to the religious questions people have struggled with in all times and places. We believe that personal experience, conscience and reason should be the final authorities in religion, and that in the end religious authority lies not in a book or person or institution, but in ourselves. We are a "non-creedal" religion: we do not ask anyone to subscribe to a creed. "
It's the ultimate "non-religion" religion

re the test:
several of the multiple choice questions gave choices none of which I fully agreed with, but I ticked the one most similar to Orthodox Judaism
also, I dislike the thought of having any association whatsoever with other religions, especially idolatrous ones--never mind atheism
the only explanation for this phenomenon is what the Kabbala says that every falsehood must contain some truth
in order to survive, other religions/ideologies must receive their sustenance from the Source of goodness and Truth, the Torah, so they must incorporate elements of truth as well
some more than others, apparently

Perhaps the threads should be merged.
I question the depth to which they 'know' each religion. For instance, they say that in Islam abortion is outlawed totally. And yet thats not always the case is it? Hmm. Safe to say that we know ourselves better than they do ;)

After almost 1 year am still very sikh!!!
:color: I think you need a major religious adjustment.
I'm not going to believe it. I know what I am.
This test doesn't seem to produce very good results for Muslims. Maybe it's a lack of information in devising it: Where there are a dozen different Christian denominations, a few Jewish outlooks and even two types of Buddhism as well as several derivatives of Hinduism, Islam is just one homogenous lump.
Judging by the members who score 100% for Islam or Orthodox Judaism, versus the Muslim members who come in with scores as low as 50%, it seems that this test's definition of Islam is very much based on an orthodox, literalist and conservative(Sunni?) doctrine. I wouldn't take the test as much more than a nice demonstration of how most people of faith have similarities in their beliefs. It doesn't really cover all the bases beyond that.

First Question: What is the number and nature of the deity (God, gods, higher power)?
Answers:
1. Only one God--a corporeal spirit (has a body), supreme, personal God Almighty, the Creator. Jewish & Wahaby muslim thoughts about God.
2. Only one God--an incorporeal (no body) spirit, supreme, personal God Almighty, the Creator. Sunnah muslims thoughts of god.
3. The supreme force is the impersonal Ultimate Reality (or life force, ultimate truth, cosmic order, absolute bliss, universal soul), which resides within and/or beyond all.
4. None of the above.
3 & 4 could be for Ibadhi because they do not ask what, where and who etc.. about god.
Second Question: Are there human incarnation(s) of God (or of gods/goddesses)?
1. God is (or gods/goddesses are) supreme, and no incarnations. Ibadhi Muslim
2. None of the above. Jewish & Wahaby Muslim. "Wahaby believe that God created Adam with god's looks. God comes down riding a donkey and has a face of a boy.
Third Question: What happens to humans after death?
1. Souls are judged immediately for a foretaste of heaven or hell. At the final judgment, God (or Christ) will resurrect and judge all for heaven or hell. (Or souls may also be judged for punishment and/or purification before heaven.) Ibadhi Muslim.
2. None of the above. Wahaby & Sunni Muslim. "They believe that all people will travel through a line in hell to go to heaven. Some will succeed and others will fail. After God's anger is no more. All people will be moved to heaven".
2. None of the above. Qadriah "Sunni" Muslim. "They believe that Heaven & hell will end and they are not eternal.
Question Twelve: Choose ALL statements below that represent your beliefs.
1. Adhere strictly to the rites, practices, precepts, commandments, prohibitions, laws, sacraments, or ordinances of the faith to be rewarded after life. Ibadhi Muslims.
2. All, even the wicked, are rewarded after life (e.g., go to heaven, merge with God) as God(s) is infinitely good and forgiving. Wahaby Muslims & Sunni Muslims especially "Muraji'ah".
3. Extinguish all cravings, attachments, and ignorance, or rid oneself of all impurities, to become fully enlightened. Very much Ibadhi Muslims.
Shi3ah Muslims has not been included.
No wonder why Jewish & Islamic beliefs are the same. :D
yay, I took the test again and now I am 100% muslim. great!

Quakey,
Post your results.
I agree that orthodox Judaism and conservative Sunnism seem to be the same in this test. So I would be interested to see how a passionate Ibadhi theologist turns out. I'm not sure you will be covered exactly how you'd think because of the way "Islam" seems to be defined in the test.
