Bucks Fizz 19-03-04, 03:18 AM All these impotent people who spend there time arguing the most insignificant points of Islam can not even defend themselves when the table is turned. I see white people" Bucks Fizz 19-03-04, 04:04 AM So we can safely establish that jesus is not hte son of god and wasnt crucified, since you don't know anything about it. I'm not sure that Jesus even existed. I am confident that hundreds of people were crucified by the Romans. A radical Jew forming his own "cult" following might have been harshly dealt with. I think you'd prefer that Jesus was only a Prophet and not crucified. Not sure why you'd believe in Jesus but not his crucifiction. Enigma 20-03-04, 09:46 AM " 5:116" And behold! Allah will say: "O JESUS the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah.?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden. And of course you all know that muslim's don't believe it was Jesus who was crucified: "4:157" That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ JESUS the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not. IceTea 20-03-04, 11:30 AM The conclusion is that Prophet Jesus PBUH never claims he was son of God, it's only human made theory. MoonChild 22-03-04, 06:05 PM Well, since no Christians answered, here are a few verses where Jesus claims to be Son of God: Matthew 16:15-17 "15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. " John 8:54-58 " 54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: 55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." John 10:36-38 "36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? 37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him." MoonChild 22-03-04, 06:08 PM By the way, I found those quite easily by doing a Google search. Any of you could have done the same and found your answer. Instead, you claim victory without ever bothering to look for the answer. There are several words I can think of to describe how pathetic that is, but they'd get me banned :p Enigma 22-03-04, 06:12 PM But when he says 'my father' perhaps he doesn't mean his 'actual father' ... maybe he just meant that holy person that looks after us. Like when Christians call God their father? MoonChild 22-03-04, 06:20 PM That's the first thing I thought of too :D The verse about existing before Abraham was born, obviously is a claim to being more than "just human", as he claims awareness prior to his physical birth. This is consistent with being "one with God" and simply coming into human form for his "mission". The East has a pretty standard concept of an "Avatar" of God - where God takes on human form in order to walk among us, seems like Jesus makes claims similar to that of an avatar, that he "is in God" and "God in him", stuff like that. Maybe the "son of" business was in order to be understood by the local Jewish culture, where lineage was of vital importance in establishing authority. |
