For those who are still on the search of a religion that suits them .. I have few questions (both religion followers or non religion followers could answer) ..

do you search for a religion that fits u completly .. or that have to respond to all your opinions and needs?

or do you search for something thats apealing and that is spittually and mentally satisfying to you?

or, you search for something that would respond to the majority of people .. even if your opinions werent served by this religion?

hope I was clear in my questions .. :scary:

I am not searching any religion to satisfy my needs but I like to read about religions to see the wisdom in them!

I saw this thread long back ... but somehow didn't want to reply in it.

...

I read a lot about religions ... not to find which one suits me, but to live my life according to the principles I find 'good' from those I read from.

Islam, Hinduism, Buddism, Christianity are the main ones that I read about ... was born a Hindu, but know more about Islam than a few Muslim friends of mine. Knowing doesn't exactly mean, following it ... so, don't jump on me!

Good day!

Searching for good principles to live your life can be done into philosophy or common sense or your family education.
Are you sure that deep down inside you are not in need of a religion?
Intelligent people must know good an argument to criticise it at 360° so not surprising that you know Islam better than me ;)

Good evening!

Well, just out of curiosity, I forwarded this to Wanderer, here is his response:

"I am not looking for a religion. I decided long ago that my energies would be better spent looking for the truth instead."

Then of course (being Wanderer), he added "Religion is an ointment ... and everyone knows that there is always a fly
(and someone else's fingerprint) in the ointment.

Why would anyone want to live their live with a cardboard box over their head ?"

Talking about ointments, we have a saying in arabic which translates as follows:
"Religion is people's valium!!" >> "الدين أفيون الشعوب"

[valium: Is a pharmacological substance that elevates symptoms of anxiety; anxiolytic]

LoOoL Seham hope you don't mean the Micronoan  :D
or opium populi i think this was from Marx :help:

the truth can be found in religion and is not a slow down for anxiety or epilepsy attacks, religion can be a cure for life, all depends on how you search and how you open your heart
