View Full Version : Judging Women by Hijab?!
Homeless 30-09-03, 02:51 PM Why do Alot of people judge women by the Hijab??
It is really frustrating and dissapointing how many people think just because a women is a Muhajaba then she is a good muslim and if she isnt then they keep thinking that she does not pray , ect ect ect...
Some Mohajabant have been forced to wear their Hijab by parents. A group of them eventually become satisfied but others are hypocrites of the Hijab and do the nastiest things.
What if u dress appropriotly and decently? Have a respectful look and do all ur deeds but u r not a Muhajaba? Why do some have to asume that u r not as good as a Muhajaba?
You might be even better than a Muhajaba cuz some Muhajabat have very bad non islamic habbits and ect or dont pray regularly or whatever else may come to mind .
Why do ppl assume that every non mohajaba are bad examples to muslim girls? I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH THAT
Id rather be a non muhajaba than a hypocrite of the Hijab like many many girls whom I personally know!
I know it is fardh and a part of our islamic religion but then again no one has the right to judge a person by her Hijab.
Eman is deep in and within. Its not just an outer look that counts.
"Ena Ba3d Al Than 2ithim"
Because humans judge by vision most of the time and not by the intention of the person. Thats why it's important for the women to show respect to other people around them by dressing in Islamic way and not to be like western women without rules and regulations.
At the end what each person do is written in his/her book and not in others book and will be judged according what he/she did and accoding what others did.

Wardat_il'7leej 30-09-03, 07:43 PM I think Homeless is asking why you are being judged by society other than religion. What you look contradict to what you do.
Homeless 30-09-03, 11:46 PM Thats exactly what I meant Wardat il'7aleej
Guwantanamist 01-10-03, 12:00 AM Well sister here is one thing ...
I cannot judge about a mu7ajaba if she was good or bad as long as i dont know her.
BUT ..
I can judge about a non mu7ajaba and say that she is not a good muslim !
You know why ?
Because she broke one very important Islamic rule. That is 7ijab, which at the mean time is what every single muslim women should be proud of (maybe in another discussion it is like beard !)
Id rather be a non muhajaba than a hypocrite of the Hijab like many many girls whom I personally know!
So why you be an (Imma3a) ?
That is in two ways ....
1) When you wear 7ijab you can be a good muslim ! You dont have to be like them !
2) You do not have to 3anid and do the opposite, because you know the problem is not in the 7ijab but in the girl her self.
So dear sister it is not an excuse at all. I think that a girl that really respects her religion first and her self second will not think twice before wearing the 7ijab.
Endure Whisper 01-10-03, 01:47 AM Perfect! As you said, you're looking at it from the religion view and not society.
Okay, our religion doesn't say that a woman who wear the hijab is good, and does all sorts of good things... it's the society that made this up!
Hijab is a part of the Islamic costume, and not part of the reputation costume.. Well, it's all true that the girl gets all the good sayings from people when she wears the hijab..
BUT, here we're looking at the religion point of view which states nothing about the reputation, but a MUST WEAR COSTUME!
Allah A3lam .. oo yehdina :)
Shinoda LP 01-10-03, 01:55 AM Areej, do you wear a hijab?
Shinoda LP 01-10-03, 01:59 AM http://www.islamfortoday.com/images/kawthar.gif
http://wrc.lingnet.org/arabw.jpg
Which of the two is the hijab again? (Sorry, but I am not well versed with female Islamic clothing)
DeSerTDesTroYeR 01-10-03, 02:08 AM Shinoda LP: the 1st picture would be called hijab... the 2nd one.. could be consider that but with additional material.
but the common known hijab is based on the first picture.
Shinoda LP 01-10-03, 02:13 AM but the common known hijab is based on the first picture.
Doesn't that contradict this ->
Because humans judge by vision most of the time and not by the intention of the person
I mean, the first lady would come across as 'cuter' than the second! And turn a few heads (like mine).
So, what's the whole point of the hijab again?
Anyone remember the Muslim lady in Florida who wanted to keep her entire face covered, on her driving license?
Guess Hijab's more related to a culture, than an Islamic symbol.
DeSerTDesTroYeR 01-10-03, 02:44 AM Shinoda LP: That still doesnt have anything to do with the other..cause as i tried to explain there are many different meanings to hijab and the 2 pictures you showed both can be considered as one. But i specified that the first can be the common one... known as hijab though that doesnt mean the other one isnt.
so how does all that contradict? with anything.
---------------
hmm...well about whos cute..i think thats more like a personal selection... if you ask me i would say both are as cute :duh: ... to you the 2nd picture isnt something normal or totally understoodable so it wouldnt seem cute as you call it ..while it would be to others ...
-----------------
the point of the hijab is to cover the hair... if a woman felt in need to cover her face..that additional.
hmm well you can say the way a hijab is wore could be culturely related but its islamic 100% .... and how it should be wore is mentioned ..its just different people understand differently and so wearing it differently but the main point about it is always the same common thing.

Yes alhamdulilah :)
Wardat_il'7leej 01-10-03, 10:34 AM You are still not addressing the topic. It is understood that in the Islamic culture - like many other cultures - the idea of women's respectability and virtue is related, among other things, to the propriety of their dress.
Homeless is stressing on the idea that society judges on the basis of appearance rather than ones virtues and action.
Homeless 02-10-03, 01:33 AM That is exactly wht im trying to point out Wardatil'7leej!!
I PERSONALLY know so called MUHAJABAT who date , talk to guys , make out, show their hair to their boyfriends or pics of them with their hair exposed.
Have the $hittiest habbits such as spreading rumours, talking bout ppl behind their back, causing problems between others and stuff like that.... but then she is a Muhajaba right and that makes her SO much better than a non muhajaba who is just a sweet heart?! what good does the Hijab do her with god then huh?
Just a cover up for ppl to say she is a respectable person
I am sorry to say but that is SAD and that is why I am complaing ....
BaBeLiCiOuS 02-10-03, 02:10 AM This is sad but true girls truly do use the 7ijab as a disguise to hide their wrongdoings.... this is really a disgrace to islam itself because these girls in particular are one of the reasons that there are ( fitan) because non-muslims wouldn't really understand islam when they have this picture of islam infront of them ... the only thing i have to say to these girls is that if they don't know how to wear the hijab from inside first then theres no purpose in doing it from outside cuz its hypocrisy and huma yeshawhoo 9orat il islam......
i think girls who don't wear 7ijab respect islam more than they do... :fire:
Homeless 02-10-03, 02:16 AM exactly , u should wear a hijab from the inside before wearing it from the outside!!!
so ppl shouldnt just miss judge u cause u r a non mohajaba!!

But they will, no matter how much you yell at them.
Deep down you know who you are, so forget about people and concentrate on the bigger picture.
I mean, the first lady would come across as 'cuter' than the second! And turn a few heads (like mine).
She's cuter because you can see her CUTE face. :duh:
As for the woman in Florida, she like many others take religion to the extreme...no harm in that, she's not killing anyone is she? :) Each to his own.
Guess Hijab's more related to a culture, than an Islamic symbol.
This is really starting to tick me off....... :shut:

That could be true but at least the girl is not doing something against her religion. Why she should care about boys if she is moving in a straight line.

Get ur facts straight Mr Ice Tea
not just because a girl is a non mohajaba means that she want to attracr boys or care about guy!!
Why do u think that way? God!! :bang:
This is NOT A WAY to even convince non mohajaba to become a Mohajaba ..... u dont even have a way to talk some1 into it instead u just piss them off.....

Did I said that , I didn't mention that non mohajaba is looking after guys..

This is becasue you got me wrong :)
Homeless 02-10-03, 11:33 AM okay then maybe I understood ur point wrong when I read the part about a mohajaba not caring about guys and understood that u meant something else ..
oh well even though .. the way u guys r spreaking , commenting and whatever u r saying is not even convincing.
Alot of ppl spoke to me before and made me get convinced about the Hijab.
They didnt disrespect me for being a non mohajaba, attack me or even say things that pissed me off ...
But here u ppl just attack and through comments which is such a turn off of the way u think and judge which is so sad as I mentioned before.
Mybe becasue we are trying to convince you by writing only and not speaking to you face to face, ther is a big difference ofcourse.
Another thing no one is trying to disrespect you here, infact we are happy that you had the courage to be honest and present your case. If you were convinecd by some people before then what is the reason you didn't wear it up to now?
Homeless 02-10-03, 12:04 PM The reason for the thousandth time is that iam not fully prepaired.
I am convinced it is something beautiful and something every Bali'3 muslim girl should do ..
I am not giving excuses..
Its not because I want to look good because everyone said I look so pretty 7amdillah with the Hijab. And its not because I want to attract guys or change the way I live because the hijab wouldnt effect the way I live or what I do at all
But iam just not sure if I take this step and become fully satisfied with it as iam not ready in so many ways.
Its not because I have to give up alot because that doesnt matter but it would be a shame to wear it then take it off because I dont think its time yet.
I know u r going to tell me that u dont know when ur day will come and when u will face allah and yes I dont know.
It might be now or tomorrow but then again shouldnt I wear it from all my heart? I wouldnt be doing that if I wore it now ..
I still need time and inshallah one day it will happen...
I know it is assential Ice tea and I know I have to today before tomorrow and iam sorry for myself NOT for others that I cannot do it now ...
OK homey, I'm not going to give you more advices coz it seems you know everything and it's up to you to take action as soon as possible and don't delay too much.
"May Allah help you to wear your beautiful hijab" :)

Blue_Chi 02-10-03, 06:09 PM I think that it is a matter of getting used to something, if you spent all of your life wearing your hijab, you will find it very uncomfortable to take it off, even sometimes when you are outside with girls only, you are just not used to it, same thing with girls that do not wear it, if you just put something on their heads they would feel so uncomfortable, a girl new to hijab would imagine that all people find it unsuitable on her.
There is nothing wrong with wearing a hijab, people would respect you more because they will no that you can make a point in your life, that you have a belief, that you are strong enough to live the way YOU want to. It is so amazing.
I am soory to bother guys......what is mohajaba and non mohajaba?
Szia!!
fatak
Blue_Chi 02-10-03, 06:34 PM Fatak,
Covered and non-covered women.
mohajaba is the arabic word for a woman who cover her hair.
Guwantanamist 02-10-03, 10:24 PM Well sister ..
If it was only a matter of being ready or not then its an easy thing that you can over come by realizing one thing.
When you say that you are not ready then this means that you feel that you are somehow acting not like what a mu7ajaba women should act. This point is an excellent point and infact it should be the point that leads you to wear Hijab.
How ?
First of all it means that you can wisely defferenciate between right and wrong
Second you really respect Hijab and think it is not fair to make it as a Mask to do whatever.
So now this only means that once you take this one easy step forward (that is weraing Hijab) you will automattically fix your self to be a better person. :)
So why dont you do it stright away ?
I have a personal experience that is somehow similar to this ... according to my experience i advice you - as a brother- to wear Hijab and you see the difference !
It will be a challanage between you and your self .. and with a mentality like yours i can bet that you are going to overcome any conflict.
Homeless 03-10-03, 04:40 PM Thank u Guwantanimist for the wonderful advice
but what if i did wear it then took it off? wht then?
what if I took wht u said as a challenge and got so convinced but then took it off ... especially tht iam leaving abroad in a week time for studies and it would be so much harder
can you tell us what are the reasons that might casue you to take it off if you wear it?
Homeless 03-10-03, 05:08 PM No I cant cuz I think I made it clear and u keep asking same questions
I don't remember I asked you this question b4
Homeless 03-10-03, 05:21 PM If it wasnt u then it was somewhere else
maybe im mixing up between this thread and the eligant Hijab thread but if u go back then the answer is there somewhere
Guwantanamist 03-10-03, 06:58 PM but what if i did wear it then took it off? wht then?
I am 99% sure that once you wear it you will never take it off. I can see it from your posts.
especially tht iam leaving abroad in a week time for studies and it would be so much harder
I disagree .... when going abroud you must be even more proud that you are a muslim. Why not be proud while we know that our religion is the right one ?
Why shouldnt we proud of Islam while the Quranic challeange to the world is there infront of us showing us day after day the I3jaz it has scientifically, socially and in our own selvs?

The secret dear is sister is being proud that you are a muslim. Just wear it once and go outside and be proud that you are a muslim.
Wear it and make sure that you are not wearing it for not a single person in this world, not your father nor your mother nor any one else but Allah.
Also wear it while Believing that this life is nothing but a mosquitous wing and that all what we work for is for the Akhira.
Try it ,.. you will never regret and again i assure you that you will never take it off. Infact your life will dramatically change and you will see that deep inside you, you will be a different person. A stronger person with a stronger personality because it is Allahs Ridha is what you are seeking nothing else.
Homeless 04-10-03, 12:47 AM I dont know.

Hey guys, I don't think it's a good idea to keep on pushing Homeless to wear "hijab", she is a good girl and let her decide when she want to take this step.
Just keep this in mind "your beautiful hear is valuable like your heart, so make sure to share it with special people only and not everyone" ;)

She is but she needs time to develop within herself and accept the teachings of islam before proclaiming to the world that she is true to herself through the hijab
Guwantanamist 05-10-03, 12:31 AM Our problem is that we are never ready to change to the best while we are always ready to be worst. I always keep reminding my self and others that if we are willing to be better then why wait for tommorow while we actually dont know if we will see day light of the comming day !
It is not a matter of being ready or not, its a decision to be made. Maybe its not easy, but its not difficult as well. Why is it when it comes to sins we dont have any problem in making such decisions while its the opposite when it comes to following Allah teachings ?
I am not blaming you homeless, im blaming the society including me, Im not an exception.
Just remember that if you wont do it today then you will not do it for a long time (arent you going abroad ? This will last for at least 4 years !), can you be sure that HADim Allathat wont suddenly attack you ?
May Allah lead us all to the right path.
Wardat_il'7leej 05-10-03, 12:48 AM Amen my alla lead us to the right path.
Why is it when it comes to sins we dont have any problem in making such decisions while its the opposite when it comes to following Allah teachings
It is always easy to do wrong cause shettan knows how to lead us to the wrong path. You are already in the wrong so what else can there be which would make you enjoy life...more wrong doings.
It is always tougher to be ''good', since the rewards for it are greater and harder to achieve.
Alla yi3eena ajm3een
Bottom line here is – Islamically God did ask women to wear the Hijab just like he asked as Muslims to do so many things like prayers – fasting, etc.. .
Whether one is good or bad, it does not have to be judged by one wearing a Hijab – just as Homey said some who wear Hijab are even worse than those who don’t!
And yes its more-less a a culture thingy which the society has come up with – you know they would look at you and will just judge you by seeing how you are dressed, which I don’t completely disagree with them, because its very easy to know a Hooker from a non hooker right?!
It would reach a time to all those Muslim women who don’t cover their head and realize the really big secret about the Hijab -–but lets just hope and pray it won’t be too late!
What kinda really bothers me is those who don;t wear Hijab would actually cover their heads in Ramadhan?! so does that mean God only sees us in Ramadhan, and not in other days?!
Oh well allah yahdee el jamee3
