Did you know that it has become a habit for many leaving expatriates to buy in bulk original silver khanjars and omani silver jewelries, packed them in containers and shipped them abroad. There, they are sold at a much higher prices.

As time passes, original omani khanjars are more difficult to find in the local markets and the sad part is that foreign countries, where the original pieces are sold, make copies which are resold in Oman!

Sooner than we think, we will see the Omani heritage abroad and we will remember it only through fake copies.

If you resell them here at a higher price then there is no problem. But seing original Omani khanjars or antique silver jewelries on european market and having copies made in India in Oman...that is sad!

I totaly Agree with you MamaSabla
Its Sad, and they are some priceless Items especially those very Old Silver made over 200 yrs and are Sold in very cheap as many people in oman dont realise the Really Value of old things, I think Ministry of Heritage and Culture Should Intervene, And if Necessary if people are really in need of Cash then the Ministry Should Buy them off and keep them in their Archives... We have been protecting and Invested a lot of Energy in Castle its time to look for Other Valuable Items..

I never saw it this way ..
I saw it as a mean of introducing our heritage to teh outside world. As long as the Omani khanjar is called "omani" I dont think it is a negative point.

but what you are saying sounds intresting!!
