I think Oman should really look towards tourism in a serious way.
The country is not receiving good tourists, and we are being so much closed for all the business activities with all that monopoly we have back home.
Oman's touris agents and all those people in the particular industry are more concerned of people going out of Oman for tourism activites more then we show our country to the outer world and making them come to us. There are several big consulting companies consulting the government about this, but it is still not opening it's doors wide enough to encourage people to come to our country.
I think we need so many things to be done to make the country look very beautiful and one of them is to build and make attractive sites for people. The government can do it, it's just that leakage of the money to individual's pocket has increased in the government.
Is it because the government is scared that our people will get exposed to other cultures which is happening now?
What do you think we need to do in order to develop good tourism in Oman?
What do you think we should do as it is late and the government is in lack of money?
Hoping to get smashing answers from all my sabla colleagues as there are so many good thinkers here.....I believe.. :color: :color:
You really need some moderately priced hotels......in the $20-$40 range......

I don't think so. Exposing to other cultures and traditions is not wrong, and they shouldn't take that into account.

Build more and more places to visit!

The government has got all the money,, trust me! They're keeping it for unnecessaries!

I am 100% sure you can find hotels for around 40 $ (and maybe less). Ofcourse those wont be star hotels but they are good .. plus you can find hotel apartments for good prices too.
The Killer, the govt is not scared of opening up, its the people themselves. its only certain parts of Oman that are opened to change.
Advertising would defintly help opening up .. and I think the government is working on it .. yesterday i passed by the "Discover Oman" and there were some intresting activities I didnt know about .. I am sure alot of toursim activities exists in Oman but usually outsiders know about the toursim attraction in the country more than the people themselves.
I loved santosa Island in Singapore .. a unique idea of turning a whole island into a toursim attraction. we can do something like this, it is intresting.
The money is there, but remmber the demands of the citizens are increasing too .. I beleive the govt is trying to meet both ends. However I beleive investing in toursim is a great and would pay off (if all the other ministries and govt agencies shared the same vision!)

Don't we need something like this? To make one of the world's wonders, we can afford it, I am sure. All we have to do is stop this monopoly thing, and people will come to develop our Oman, I am quiet sure about it.
If everything is given to :
Zawawi,Suhail and Saud Bahwan, and Those big shots of the ministries their companies with wasta i mean as well as Khimji, which of foreign companies would ever be interested in coming to Oman?
UAE have opened their door for business, so shall we and other Gulf States. I think Qatar is coming up quiet well nowadays. I'm not comparing Oman to these countries because of course we are the poorest country in Gulf, but still our government is the richest. Poor people and rich government. This is all because we are allowing the monopoly. We are not allowing small businessmen to come up.
I'll start another thread about this anyway, please post your replies.... but do tell me am i right or wrong.... please, because it is going to help on my report which I'm making to His Majesty.... Don't worry I will make sure NO ONE IS EXPOSED and as well I'll make sure this reaches him through my father.
Please help me....Give me your openions to help me....
I'm trying to bring up a big project, had meeting with some Australian Business Executives through my friend's uncle who is a lawyer at a party held in their house. This meeting was successful and I was able to really convince them after trying hard. Just need people's support here. As family will support internally but need support of people....
I will tell you the project later, but do tell me is a good thing to bring businessmen from out of oman or not if they are ready to employ the company with 70% skilled Omanis giving them good salaries?

The Killer,
sorry I disagree with you .. Oman is not the richest country in the gulf .. in fact we are the the least of oil production and a quite high national population.
sorry I just wanted to clarify that :)

Well my lady Arabian Princess, I meant to say that Oman is the poorest Among all the Gulf Countries. But Omani Government is still RICH. Now if you do not support me, I can't show you a big time evidence but I can tell you that with all that money which goes to most minister's swiss bank account not his personal money, but country's money.
I'm sorry if Im saying something wrong but I'm talking to the knowledge I got from a little secret friend of mine who works as a government AUDITOR...
