Ok....this might sound funny but it'd be nice for the sabla.


You know how we've got arrow buttons on the side of the latest threads? Well they are all pointing DOWN. Wouldn't it be good if the ones that move up (according to latest posts) point upwards and the ones that go down point down? Just like that have with music charts and stuff.

It's just an idea. :)

The arrows are there to show you that there are new posts in that thread since your last visit.

So.... what do you mean by them pointing upward and downward?

When it moves down in the New Posts Page la. Just like music charts...........I suppose if it isn't moving upwards than most likely it'll get an arrow pointing down.

well noticed Enigma...but as you ...see the process is you post a post...:wink: and if you connect that to the example of posting mail you actually drop the letter in the post box right..:D

so here your like posting in the thread the more posts the more letters there are in a thread..soo arrow down means heavy weight thread.....

or maybe am still confused about what your trying to point out ...

i'll try to notice it..and get back here if i misunderstood.

so basically these arrows are based on the last post date/time...

threads with new posts will always be on the top of the list... therefore having an arrow pointing up...

anything below it will have an arrow pointing down... since it has been moved down...

please stop me if i understood you wrong...

thinking about this as music charts, lets say that there are 10 songs on the chart and the charts change every week... depending on the popularity of a song, it changes places... where we basically see a song that starts with a possition between 5-10 and makes its way to 1, then bounce back...

applying that in the sabla would be very confusing to me... as their are no possitions with a topic... plus this would be uniqe for each member depending on when they visit the sabla and check a topic... therefore adding an extra query to the database each time a member posts...

did i confuse you??? i could explain again if you like....

Well this is our typical mods behaviour, the process as below:

1. A member suggest a suggestion to improve sabla.

2. One mod will jump and make himself "faylasoof zamanoh" and start to explain and confuse the member, why because he don't like the suggestion.

3. Another mod will jump in the middle and start to to support his team and start also to give this and that and it's not a good idea because of this and because of that.

4. Finally the member will be disapointed and he/she will not have the drive to have another suggestion in the future.


Where as other members see it as a good suggestion and support the idea (like me), it's just a simple arrow to be added to jump to the top instead of scrolling to the top. What is the bid deal about it, why Admin are so complicated and not helpfull in this matter.

IceTea, i understand how a music chart works... just not sure how it would work in the sabla... please rememmber how much codeing will be invloved to have this done in the sabla... you say that its just a simple arrow... but how will the sabla software understand when to put an up arrow and when to put a down arrow... thats the codeing part...

when a member suggests something for the sabla i take it under consideration... if i am able to do it and know that it wont affect anything else related to the sabla i would go ahead with it...

please rememmber that the sabla team are here for you... we are your friends in the end... we would like to see the sabla be a better place and that is done with members like you... giving in your suggestions is a way to see what members want in the sabla... some suggestions has been implemented, others have not... there is nothing called a bad suggestion... they are many issues that needs to be clear before any action is taken... i might sound confusing to you why didnt you ask me to explain again?

and now the topic is able who is in whos black book... what has that got to do with the suggestion??? i am not looking for an answer to my last question... lets just stick with the topic plz...

Thanx for your feedback, but to say the least I'm 100% it's not impossible to implement, if the below arrow there then it's possiple to stick another arrow and code it to jump to the top.

This suggestion is handy for long threads.
