View Full Version : Bowling a fun sport
X-press 21-09-03, 11:44 AM http://thumb1.image.altavista.com/image/80422594
During my summer holidays, I started playing bowling and to my surprise, I got really hocked to this fun sport.
I was wandering if there are any members interested in that sport too and where do they play? I also would like to know if there is any place in Oman where we can be properly trained by a professional bowler?
Thanks
there are places here in oman.
we have it in the university. u can come and play. but i am not sure if it is allowed for non members.

i like bowling
before opening the bowling alley in bahja, i used to play in sheraton hotel, ruwi, but now i play there
i think they teach in sheraton, ruwi
Well it's an interesting one.
I do play it here but never used to when i was in oman!
The only place i heared about was SQU!
Hasoon gave some other places though!
haso0on 21-09-03, 10:21 PM and i also heard that in Seeb Nov Hotel there is also a bowling alley
but i havent been there
Thug4Life 22-09-03, 01:16 AM Ok when ya talk about Bowling ya can ask me
nabhan, fahad and DD
we RULE in it!
yup SQU is goodie!
al bahja one as well is not bad!!!
seeb nov is an oldie one !!
Endure Whisper 22-09-03, 01:58 AM It's interesting how many people are opening up to different kind of sports here in Oman. It's a wonderful thing to see not everyone into FOOTBALL only.. lol..
Well, I don't play bowling.. not that I hate it.. but I just don't. They play it there in Bahja, the place is well organized!

The times I went bowling with my friends could be counted..
Never got the hang of it! lol..
We have a local bowling alley back in Amman.. It has been there for ages! And alot of people still go there to play..
We also have one at my uni.. Its a big one! Except I havent been there yet!! I cant find the time to go take a look!!
But i think its a nice sport.. Based on concentration! :kewl:
if anybody wants a good beating give me a shout. i'd be getting strike, strike, strike.

I also never used to like bowling before and my son is the one who pushed me to try. We played once, twice and very quickly realized that we wanted to play again and again and again :tiered:
I never thought I would like this sport, but now I really do and my daughter also loves it and becomes quite good at it!!! I know the Sheraton's bowling alleys but Ruwi is too far from where I live. I only go to the one in Bahja Center and as Areej said, though it is a bit small, it is well organized.
As each game per person is rather expensive, I am planning to take a year membership...so Thug, Areej, haso0on, I might see you there ;) Do you play during the week or during the week-end? Maybe we should arrange a game once.
I see many professional teams practising on a weekly basis in Bahja at least, so I am wandering where we can properly learn to bowl like these guys?? :lost:
haso0on 22-09-03, 05:44 PM well the last time i played was the last day of school :p
now adays i dont go to bahja, its just far
haso0on 22-09-03, 05:46 PM but there are some rumers, that the new building between sharoj and ramada, is a new bowling alley, but till now they didnt start working on it
X-press 25-09-03, 02:57 AM I also heard of that new coming bowling center haso0on and someone is working on plans to open one also in the Azaiba area.
Anyway, while waiting for all these new places to open, I decided to play 6 games today (which was a max. for me!!) and got my highest score ever: 137 points for one game!! Not bad for a beginner I think.
Wandering for how many months or years you are all playing and what was your highest score for one single game?
Endure Whisper 25-09-03, 03:29 AM That's good for a beginner!!
Congrats, X-press !!! And keep on the good work!
haso0on 25-09-03, 11:31 AM wow thats real good
Bowling is 1 of my favorite sports
There r 3 places Oman: SQU, Sharoton hotel and bahja mall.. The best 1 is SQU, it's the cheapest, and there is no longer in novatel
U can get bowling lessons in SQU, ask for a philipino guy
Note: there is one is being build near the oman sport club in khuwair..
Take care
haso0on 26-09-03, 01:22 AM but arnt u suppose to be a student or something?
and plus SQU is faaar away
Well, I dont think u have to be a student. The philipino guy can help u, at least he can give u contacts or where u can get bowling lessons cuz he used 2 be in novatel for years. Actually i forgot his name, but he is the one who is in charge there.
there is no place which is far these days, beside that it depend where do u live
I played this game twice and find it that it depends on luck and try and error.
Did u know that 90% of bowlers players like chicken soup.
